How to become a substitute

Application Requirements:

To be considered, applicants must complete all of the following requirements:

• Upload a passing GACE Paraprofessional Assessment certificate or a valid, renewable U.S. teaching certificate. Please see FAQs for additional information.
• Provide three professional references.
  Note: Applicants should provide professional references who can speak to their work performance, experience, and qualifications relevant to the position.

⚠️ Applications that are missing any required documentation will be considered incomplete and will not be reviewed.

Steps for Consideration

To ensure your application will be reviewed, all steps below must be completed:

• ✅ Pass the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment and upload certificate from GaPSC or upload a valid renewable U.S. teaching certificate. Please see FAQs for additional information.
• ✅ Submit a completed application with all required documents
• ✅ Receive three positive professional reference survey responses

 

If your application is selected

• 📘 You will be required to attend a mandatory substitute training workshop
• 🔍 Complete a background screening through Forsyth County Schools
  • Location details will be provided via email
  • Cost: $60.00 (non-refundable and not reimbursable)
• 📝 Complete all required onboarding documentation

Substitute Activities and Athletic Pass

This pass includes half-price admission for one to FCS home athletic events, musicals, plays, band concerts, and other special school-sponsored activities. Half-price admission does not extend to play-off games, graduation or PTO/A sponsored events.
