DRESS FOR LEARNING

The FCS dress code helps create a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment for all.

THE BASICS

Clothing must cover undergarments, chest, midriff, and waistbands at all times.
Clothing must be opaque and cover front, back, and sides. No see‑through clothing or strapless tops.
Face and ears must remain visible for safety and identification purposes.
Clothing must be safe, appropriate, and functional for all school activities.

NOT ALLOWED

The following attire is not permitted:

References to alcohol, drugs, vaping, or other illegal substances
Explicit or inappropriate images or language
Gang‑related symbols or identifiers
Language or images that are threatening or discriminatory

School administration has the authority to determine whether student attire complies with the dress code.

The responsibility for student dress rests primarily with students and their parent(s)/guardian(s).

To support a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment, student clothing must meet the following expectations:

Clothing must fully cover private areas, including undergarments and waistbands, and must remain covered during typical movement (e.g., sitting, standing, bending, and walking).
Clothing must be opaque (non-see-through) and provide coverage of the front, back, and sides. Clothing must fully cover the chest and abdomen.
Exposed midriffs, low-cut tops, strapless tops, and visible undergarments are not permitted.
Clothing and accessories must allow the face and ears to remain visible for identification and safety purposes, except for verified religious or documented medical reasons. Hats or head coverings may be permitted at the discretion of school administration.

Clothing must be safe, appropriate, and functional for all school activities, including physical education, science labs, and Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) courses. Clothing that restricts movement or creates a safety concern may not be permitted.
Appropriate footwear must be worn at all times.

The following student clothing items are not permitted:

Promotion of or references to alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, vaping products, or other controlled or illegal substances.
Images or language depicting pornography, nudity, or sexual acts.
Profanity, obscene language or images, including symbols or abbreviations that imply inappropriate content.
Gang-related identifiers, including symbols, colors, signs, or references, as determined by school administration.
Discriminatory language or threatening images targeting individuals or groups, as determined by school administration.

School administration has the authority to determine whether student attire complies with the dress code. Students may be required to change clothing or take other corrective action if attire is deemed inappropriate.
