Self-Pay Course Credits

Sign in to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal on your phone or computer. If you have multiple students, select the correct student before continuing.

In the top‑left corner, tap or click the three‑line menu. Select Documents from the list.

At the top of the Documents page, confirm the school year is set to the current school year. If needed, use the dropdown arrow to switch to the correct year.

Find and select:

Online Course Student‑Parent Pay Credit Acceptance (You will see a PDF icon and the form status.)

A message will appear explaining that once one parent/guardian begins the form, other guardians will be locked out. Select Continue Edit if you will be the one completing the form. If not, select Cancel and exit.

A pop‑up will appear with the Infinite Campus Electronic Signature Terms. Select Agree to continue. (Selecting Decline will close the form.)

The form will open on Page 1. Verify the student’s name and school at the top. Read the Student‑Parent Pay Acknowledgements carefully, including any linked information. Scroll to Page 2.

Complete the required fields:

• Course Name
  Type the full name of the course.
• Course Provider
  Select FVA or GAVS.
• Course Term (GAVS only)
  Choose the correct term (A, B, or AB).

On Page 3, tap the red signature box. Both guardians may appear, but only one signature is required. The guardian who started the form must complete it.

After signing, submit the form to finalize the request.

No. While high school courses you take before 9th grade can be added to your high school transcript (like the high school science and math courses taken in middle school), they will not be factored into the GPA. This includes courses completed over the summer before you officially become a high school student on the first day of 9th grade.

No. The only online providers from which FCS will accept credit are Forsyth Virtual Academy (FVA) and Georgia Virtual School (GAVS).

No. Only one credit total from either FVA or GAVS will be added per semester, not both.

Yes. You can take a combination of two half-credit courses (.5/.5) or 1 full credit course (1.0) per semester/summer term. See examples below:

• FVA AP Psychology = (1.0)
• GAVS AP Psychology AB = (1.0)
• FVA Heath (.5) + FVA Personal Fitness (.5) = 1.0

Only one credit per semester will be added to your transcript. Families can elect to take
more than one self-pay online course through GAVS or FVA. However, our conversations
with college admissions officers confirm that this does not add to the overall application for students, and we do not recommend it. If a student elects to take more than one self-pay within a semester/summer term - it is the responsibility of the student to communicate with their counselor which course they want added to the transcript, following your school’s process to add the course to the transcript.

The Dual Enrollment courses that are part of the 30 funded hours will be added
to the transcript and will be included in the GPA calculation. If those 30 hours are
exceeded, students must pay for those courses, even if they are in the 7 periods of regular
academic classes (known as “self-pay”). Self-pay courses inside the regular school day
schedule will be added to the transcript but will NOT be calculated into the student’s GPA. Additionally, self-pay college courses taken outside of the regular schedule will NOT be added to the high school transcript.

Through extensive research of neighboring districts, meetings with college admissions
officers, and review of data pertaining to student mental health, we believe these changes
are necessary to foster a safe, connected, and thriving learning experience for our students.
