About

The Information Systems Department supports three aspects of the school system:

  • Registering new and returning students
  • Maintaining all aspects of student records
  • Responding to all state and federal reporting requirements

Forsyth County School's centralized registration center creates educational student records when parents and guardians enroll their students in one of Forsyth County schools. Parents and students receive personalized attention at registration and enroll all students within the family, regardless of the school level they previously attended. Utilizing a state-of-the art electronic records management system, student and departmental records are managed according to required records retention guidelines.  Online pre-registration is available through this website at the quick link on the home page entitled "Enroll Your Child." For more information, please see the Student Records and Registration Navigation page located on this website.

Forsyth County Schools maintains all historical student records at the Technology Innovation and Training Building.  Student records are archived for all Forsyth County Schools high school graduates as well as all students who have withdrawn from our school system. The Information System Department follows retention records timelines and standards set by the Georgia Archives Association.  All student records for active students are maintained within the web-based application Infinite Campus, which provides not only school staff with information for decision-making, but also allows parents to keep up-to-date on their student's important information such as assignments, grades, conduct, and attendance through access to Parent Portal.

Both the state of Georgia and the federal government require a variety of reporting of school systems.  The reported information relates to how the school system is funded based upon how students are enrolled in specific programs.  Additionally, the state evaluates school effectiveness based upon standardized testing information, graduation rates, attendance rates, and many other aspects of a school.  The Information System Department is responsible for making sure that all information provided to the state is timely and accurate.

The Information System Department provides data to a variety of school system departments in the district in an effort to assist effective departmental decision making. Some of the departments that provide information are food services, facilities boundary planning and projections, human resources for staff allotments, media services, and district data profiles.
