Mrs. Tammy Bevis

My name is Tammy Bevis and I reside in Cumming, with my husband.  We love living in Georgia!  My daughter is a graduate from UGA and is enjoying a new career in Atlanta.  I love reading, writing, scrapbooking, running and shopping! My passion is teaching first graders and I especially love teaching at Sharon Elementary.  I'm so excited for the new challenges in first grade.  I know it will be a wonderful year to come.

I am a graduate of University of North Florida where I earned my B.S. in Elementary Education. I received my Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology from Lesley University and my Educational Specialist degree (Ed. S.) in Teaching and Learning from Piedmont College. I also completed an Educational Leadership Add-on from Kennesaw State University.  This year I completed thirty years of teaching and have taught in Forsyth County school system for the past eighteen years. I have had experience teaching nine years in Florida and three and half years in Ohio.

I am so excited to begin my 22nd year as an educator and to be part of the amazing 1st grade team at Sharon Elementary.  I received my undergraduate degree in Special Education from Buffalo State College. I taught Kindergarten, 1st, and EIP 2nd grade in Conyers, GA for 19 years. My goal as a teacher is to help students not only learn the academic content but to facilitate creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving so that students become life-long learners with a sense of pride and ownership in their education.

I was born in the small town of Grand Island, NY which is nestled between Niagara Falls and Buffalo.  My wonderful husband --Paul and I just celebrated our 20th anniversary, and are the parents two adorable rescue "doggers." Baylee our border collie/lab mix and Joe a frisky lab/pit mix. We moved to Roswell in 2015, but we’ve lived in Georgia since 1998.

When I’m NOT teaching, I enjoy music, dancing, game nights with great friends, but most of all, I love spending time with my ever growing family in Buffalo, Philadelphia, New York City, and Los Angeles. It’s tough having family scattered all over the country, but it does make our time together that much more  special.
