I am thrilled to begin my 15th year in education, and am so happy to be a part of the second grade team at Sharon Elementary. I love working with the staff and students at Sharon and am looking forward to another amazing school year! Teaching is such a rewarding profession, and I absolutely love what I do.
I am a native of Grosse Pointe, Michigan (a suburb of Detroit). My husband and I relocated to Forsyth County in the summer of 2015, and we love our home in Georgia. We live in Cumming with our 7-month old son, Griffin and our adorable dog, Dixie.
I graduated from Albion College with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and English, and earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Michigan in Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. I believe that education is the foundation of our community, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to help students learn every day. I’m very excited to share my passion for learning with the students at Sharon Elementary.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy fitness classes, horse-back riding, and cheering on my favorite Detroit sports teams. I also love to travel the world. I have been lucky enough to visit countries on 5 different continents. I’m always on the hunt for my next adventure!

I am thrilled to be a 2nd Grade teacher at Sharon Elementary! I have my Bachelors of Science Degree in Education from the University of Georgia and am an avid Dawg fan! I completed my Gifted Endorsement in 2014 and have begun working towards my certification in the Orton-Gillingham program. I joined the Sharon family in 2005 and was a member of the first grade team for seven years. I am now entering my 7th year as a 2nd Grade teacher. Prior to Sharon, my teaching career began at a small private school in Natchitoches, Louisiana and after two years, my family moved back to Georgia and we relocated to the Forsyth County community. I began my Georgia teaching career in the Gwinnett County School System and the next year transferred to Sharon.
On a personal note, I graduated from Henderson High School in DeKalb County and then on to UGA. I have been happily married to my husband, Bill, for 33 years and we have two wonderful young adults. My son, William lives in the Atlanta area and my daughter, Emily and her husband John, are residents of Savannah. I enjoy researching genealogy, sewing, theater, and watching Georgia football.

The upcoming school year will be my 17th year in Elementary education, my 11th year teaching 2nd grade, and my 8th year here at Sharon Elementary! I am absolutely thrilled to be part of the Sharon Family, and love being part of the 2nd grade team. Sharon is truly a fabulous place to teach and LEARN! During my tenure here I've been afforded wonderful professional learning opportunities by both Sharon and Forsyth County. I’ve attended various state and district level trainings in writing, balanced literacy, science, math, and performance based assessments where we learned directly from state and nationally recognized experts. I’ve also been lucky having the opportunity to redeliver what I have learned to my colleagues and facilitate school and district level professional development trainings. In addition, I earned my Gifted Endorsement in 2011-2012 through Forsyth County and the State of Georgia. It’s been a busy 8 years for me professionally here at Sharon! It’s simply because I truly embrace the concept of being a lifelong learner, and am passionate about bringing the best practices in education to my classroom. Quite honestly, I love what I do! I’m truly grateful to be a teacher.
When speaking about who I am as a teacher today, I also need to give credit to my family. I’ve known since I was little I had teaching in my blood. I believe teaching is truly a calling, and I come from a long line of educators-- both of my grandfathers were professors (1 Math and 1 English--it explains a lot! I grew up in an atmosphere where a passion for learning was not only expected, but cherished and cultivated. Learning and exploring new ideas was as much a part of my life as breathing. My mother was the complete embodiment of this philosophy. She is, by far, the person who has most influenced the way I teach. Every day as a child I watched her approach life with humor, passion, and an insatiable thirst for knowledge, eagerly watching for what we, her 5 children loved to learn about as individuals. I first “officially” began my teaching career where I grew up, on the beautiful Jersey Shore! I graduated Rutgers University-Rutgers College, graduating cum laude, earning degrees in Psychology and Biology, and later received my teaching certification from Richard Stockton State College. I began my Masters in New Jersey, continued it in Portland, Oregon, and am greatly looking forward to finishing it here with one of the fine programs affiliated with Forsyth County. After college, I taught for 5 years for The Princeton Review where I was able to hone my skills in the “art” of standardized testing, and soon found my passion in elementary education teaching Summer Science and Math Enrichment. I taught 1st and 2nd grade at one of the most prestigious private schools in New Jersey, then met and married my husband and moved to the cliffs overlooking Manhattan in northern New Jersey. I taught 2nd grade for 3 years in Short Hills, consistently ranked one of the best districts in the state, and my elementary school was a literacy lab school for Columbia University's, Teachers College. I’m so fortunate to have worked for 3 years in such an amazing public school district. So much of who I am as a teacher today comes from the incredible opportunities, colleagues, and community that surrounded me. We then made the move to beautiful Portland, Oregon where I taught for 3 years, 1st -3rd grade, and we welcomed our first son, Shane (a devote Oregon Ducks fan), in 2004! While in Oregon, I had the pleasure of working with cutting edge educators, and was delighted to bring all that I had learned and experienced here to Georgia when we decided to make the move in the fall of 2006. I took a year off with the move, and we welcomed our second son, Ryan (a devote Bulldogs fan), in May of 2007! We are thrilled to have planted our roots here in Georgia and have thoroughly enjoyed the warm southern hospitality-- not to mention the warm weather. I’ve been busy here professionally AND personally—welcoming our 3rd child Mackenzie Anne Magee December 2011! We live right here in Forsyth County with our fab chocolate lab, Wally.

I love being a part of the Second Grade team at Sharon Elementary! I have been teaching 2nd grade here since 2006. I can’t imagine a better place to work with such a phenomenal administrative team, talented and hard-working teachers and paras, and exceptional office, custodial and cafeteria staff.
I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. Growing up in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, I had some outstanding role models for teachers. I attended the University of Kentucky where I earned a BA in Early Childhood Education. Following college, I was looking for an exciting new adventure and relocated to Atlanta where I began my teaching career and earned a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Oglethorpe University. During the 2015-16 school year, I completed my Gifted Endorsement through Forsyth County and have incorporated so much of what I learned into my classroom. I have a total of twenty-four years of teaching experience in first, second and third grades. I taught for 12 years in DeKalb County at Woodridge Elementary in Stone Mountain and Livsey Elementary in Tucker. I am so excited to return to second grade this year! They have just the perfect mix of love for learning, motivation, humor, determination and independence.
I assure you it is going to be a fun and exciting school year! Whether your child is eager or hesitant, I feel confident they will have a positive and successful 2nd grade year. I am committed to providing a trusting, respectful, challenging and fun learning environment. My goal is for your child to feel safe and comfortable enough to take chances and challenge themselves and most of all that they’ll feel loved and appreciated for who they are!
I currently live in Cumming with my wonderful husband, Buddy, and 3 of the best kids you could ever meet: Emily is attending the University of Kentucky as a junior this fall, Katie is a senior at Lambert and Will is a freshman at Lambert. They are all successful graduates of Sharon Elementary! We also have a sweet cavapoo named Millie. I enjoy spending my time watching my kids participate in all their activities, sewing costumes for Christian Youth Theater of Atlanta, cheering on the UK Wildcats, reading, painting, exercising, and watching movies.
121220 email@example.com Thompson, Kimberly I grew up just down the road in Peachtree Corners, and, as a child, I always knew I wanted to teach someday. Following high school, I moved to Athens and worked to earn my B.S. in Education from the University of Georgia. GO DAWGS!
After graduation, I began my career teaching second grade here at Sharon Elementary in 2003. A couple of years later, I completed my Master’s Degree in Elementary Reading and Literacy through Walden University. I have taught at Sharon since its inaugural year, and there’s nowhere else I’d rather be!
Presently, I live in Cumming in a home I share with my amazing husband, Jonathan, and our beautiful daughters, Emerson and Rylan. We also have two four-legged “children” - a lively dog named Bailey and an adorable cat, Luna. In my free time, I enjoy reading, shopping, playing with my girls, cooking with my husband, watching college football, and doing anything that lets me spend time with my family and friends.
