Mrs. Charla Altom

I am a two-time graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama which is my hometown.  I completed a bachelor's and a master's degree in Elementary Education. I am proud of maintaining a 4.0 in my graduate work.   I am beginning my eighteenth  year of teaching.

This is my fourth  year at Sharon and I have taught in Fulton County, Gwinnett County and in Birmingham, Alabama.  Teaching at Sharon is like a dream come true.  Sharon Elementary is the most amazing place I have taught!

My husband and I have just celebrated our twenty-fourth anniversary.  We have a fifteen year old daughter, Carly, who will be a sophomore at Lambert.  Our family of three lives in Johns Creek.

In my spare time, I love to travel and spend time at the pool and beach.  My favorite vacation spot is Sanibel Island where I love to shell!  I enjoy  eating out and exploring new restaurants. I am also an avid Auburn fan.

I want your child to experience a kind, loving and caring teacher.  I am flexible, nurturing and very approachable.  I want this to be the best year your child could dream of having.   My classroom has a “family atmosphere” and I know this is one of many reasons we all love Sharon.  This reputation led me to the school and I could not be happier or prouder to be a part of the Sharon Family!  I cannot wait to get to know you and your child!

Mrs. Robyn Fogarty

I am very excited to be teaching at Sharon Elementary.  This is my 26th year of teaching elementary school in Georgia and New Hampshire!  I am married to my wonderful husband, John, and have 4 sons, Shane 26, Zachary 25, Ryan 19 and Kyle 13.  I also have 3 fur babies,  2 dogs- Roman (boxer) and Chloe (shih tzu) and 1 cat - Little Joe. We are always busy and having fun with the family.  My favorite things to do are reading, hiking, boating, shopping and  watching my boys play sports. Our family loves cheering for the NE Patriots (and all Boston sports teams).

I grew up in Pennsylvania and received my teaching degree at California University of PA.  After college, I moved to GA where I began my career teaching Kindergarten and 1st grade.  My family and I moved to NH for two years where I taught 2nd grade, then we moved back to GA for 3 years and I taught 3rd grade.  Our family missed the seasons and beauty of New England, so we moved back to NH for 3 years and I taught a year each in 1st grade, 2nd grade and 5th grade.  Even though we absolutely love New Hampshire we decided to move back (for good!) to be closer to family. We are excited to have made our home in Forsyth County. I am absolutely thrilled to work with you and your child to make their 3rd grade year a wonderful experience.

Mrs. Cindy Slappy

I am so happy to be at Sharon Elementary, working with the best staff, the best parents and the best students! I was born and raised in Ohio, but moved to Georgia with my family in 1984. After graduating from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, I began my teaching career in Cobb County. I taught 3rd grade (my favorite!) in the same school, even the same room for 10 years! During that time I met and married my husband, Jackson. We moved to Jacksonville, Florida and then Charleston, South Carolina. During my 8 years in Florida and South Carolina I continued teaching as a reading safety-net teacher, kindergarten special education teacher and a science lab instructor. Finally, we made it back to Georgia! I worked again in Cobb County for 2 years as a science lab instructor. My love of science is enormous and I love to share my lab experiences with the students of Sharon! This will be my tenth year working in 3rd grade at Sharon and I am excited for my next group of third graders! (Yep, that’s right, 20 years worth of 3rd graders!)

Last year my husband and I officially became “empty nesters”. My daughter, Rachel is in her third year of medical school at Emory University and was married in June! My second daughter, Emily, attends  the University of Tennessee (Go Vols!), and is studying interior architecture. My youngest, Ryan, will be in his second year at Emory University (Go Eagles!) in the fall.

Mrs. Laura Steiger

I am Laura Steiger. Here is a little info about me! I have spent the majority of my childhood living in Dunwoody and am a graduate of Dunwoody High School. I received my B.S. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia (yes, I am a HUGE BULLDOG fan). I have four beautiful children!  Ryan, my son will be a Sophomore at UGA (not sure how I am old enough for that)!!  Olivia, my "baby" will be an 11h grader at Lambert.  My step-daughter, Caroline,  will be a 10th grader at Alpharetta High School, and the baby of our family, my step-son, Chris, will be an 8th grader at Webb Bridge.  In my free time, I love to read, cook, run/lift weights, SHOP, and spend time with my sweet husband and our crazy crew of kids!!  Not necessarily in that order!!

This is my 26th year teaching. I began my teaching career in Gwinnett County at Simpson Elementary. I have taught Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third Grades. After taking a few years off to spend a little extra time at home, I returned to teaching at Sharon. This is my 12th year teaching 3rd grade, and 15th year at Sharon!  I love both!!!  I can't wait for another fantastic year!

Mrs. Casey Wilson

Welcome to Third Grade! I am thrilled to be at the beginning of another school year! Here is a little background about me: I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. Teaching is what I love to do and it's where my heart is. I love helping students discover a love of learning! It's amazing to see how much growth they make in a year. This school year marks my 16th year of teaching. I spent the first 6 years of my career teaching second grade in Jackson County. This year is my 10th year as a third grade teacher at Sharon Elementary. I could not be more proud to call myself a Sharon Knight!

I am originally from upstate NY, and went to college in Boston, Massachusetts. While in Boston, I earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Human Development. After college, we moved to Georgia, and I later went on to earn a Masters degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. My husband Matt and I have three beautiful children. My step-daughter Dianna is a sophomore at Kennesaw State  University. Our two youngest are here with me at Sharon. Our son, Matthew is in 5th grade this year, and our youngest, Shea, is in second grade! We also have two dogs named Ollie and Penny. Outside of school, I love to spend time with my family, read, watch football (go Giants!), cook, and bake.

I cannot wait to meet my new group of third graders. I know it's going to be a fantastic year!

Mrs. Kristi Vervack

Hello! My name is Kristi Vervack. This is my fourth year as part of the Sharon Elementary family. I am originally from the beautiful city of Chicago. I moved to the Johns Creek area in 2016, when my husband’s job led us down south. We absolutely love it here! I come from a family of educators, and I have been an educator myself for over fifteen years!   I graduated from Florida State University (GO NOLES!) with a degree in Elementary Education, and an endorsement in Art. I went on to complete my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, and added an additional endorsement in ESOL from Concordia University, Chicago. I love to be creative. My hobbies include cooking/baking, painting and photography.  I also love to exercise and be outdoors with my kids, Zac (9) and Ainsley (7). We also have two golden retriever puppies, Ace and Ana, that we are absolutely obsessed with!
