Mrs. Charla Altom

I am a two-time graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama which is my hometown.  I completed a bachelor's and a master's degree in Elementary Education.  I am beginning my sixteenth year of teaching.  I love children of all ages and enjoy teaching different grade levels and subjects!  I have taught all elementary grades except for Kindergarten and 2nd but I have taught 2nd-grade math!   Most of my teaching career has been spent teaching fourth grade.  There is something so special about this age child.  This is my second year at Sharon having come from teaching in John’s Creek where I live with my husband and daughter.

I am married to Kent Altom who is an attorney who also teaches Business Law at Kennesaw State University. We have just celebrated our twenty-second anniversary.  We have a thirteen-year-old daughter, Carly who will be an eighth-grade student at Riverwatch Middle.  She has been attending school at our neighborhood school but I have loved Forsyth so much that our whole family excitedly wanted Carly to join this awesome group of schools!

In my spare time, I love to travel and spend time at the pool and beach.  I love eating out and exploring new restaurants.  I am an avid Auburn football fan having grown up going to all the games with my family who all graduated from there except for me!  I love all things girly like manicures, pedicures, massages, shopping, and taking photographs and making photo books online.

Spending time with family is super important to me.

I want your child to experience a kind, loving and caring teacher.  I am flexible, nurturing and very approachable.  I want this to be the best year your child could dream of having.   My classroom has a “family atmosphere” and I know this is one of many reasons we all love Sharon.  This reputation led me to the school and I could not be happier or prouder to be a part of the Sharon Family!

Georgia has been my home now for 6 years and I love it here!  I especially love teaching at Sharon Elementary for the last 5 years!  While at Sharon, I’ve had the privilege of teaching both 4th grade and 5th grade, and consider both grades my favorite!  Because my husband was a Marine for many years we moved often. I have also taught 2nd-6th grade in Illinois, North Carolina and Florida.

Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to be a teacher.  I earned my B.A. in Elementary Education from Wheaton College in Illinois, with a concentration in English literature.  I am middle school certified to teach ELA and Social Studies as well as Gifted Endorsed.

When I am not teaching, I like to spend my time with my husband and four daughters.  Two of my girls attend Riverwatch and two attend Lambert. Whenever I am not cheering from the sidelines at a sports event, I love getting outdoors and hiking with my family and my dogs!  We also love to cook, travel and explore together whenever we can. I am looking forward to this year as being my best year yet in 4th grade!

Hi!  My name is Cindy Cook.  I relocated with my family to Forsyth County in 2018.  I was born and raised in Cordele, Georgia with my parents and younger sister.  I graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education (War Eagle!).   I continued my education to receive a Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Florida State University.   I have 16 years experience in a variety of elementary grade levels in Virginia, Florida, and Georgia including Forsyth County.

Teaching is my passion and I can’t wait to learn, explore and grow with my students.  My goal will be to create a learning environment that fosters student engagement by providing choice and developmentally appropriate lessons.  This allows students to feel comfortable making mistakes so they can construct new knowledge based on their experiences and prior knowledge. I will work to build a relationship with each student and family built on love, respect, and acceptance.

When away from teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and our westie, Cody.   My husband of 29 years and I have built a fun filled life together full of adventure and time with family and friends.   Our son is a senior at FSU in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Political Science and minor in Psychology. (Go Noles!).  Our daughter is a senior at Lambert High School.  She is busy visiting colleges and spending time with friends.  As a family we enjoy the outdoors, boating, going to concerts, football, and spending time with extended family and friends.   I am vey excited to be part of the Sharon Family this year in fourth grade.  The sky is the limit!!!

Welcome to fourth grade! We are going to have a blast together as we learn many new skills and become a class family! We will get creative, work hard, and laugh a lot along the way! I cannot wait to challenge you and watch you soar! It’s going to be a lot of fun! Let’s get going!

My husband, Thomas, and I got married on a beach in 2016. Our son, Thomas (You will hear a lot about him!) was born in March 2017! We enjoy trips to the bookstore, exploring new playgrounds, and getting messy together! He really does keep us on our toes, but we LOVE every moment!

This is my 15th year teaching. I have taught 3rd and 4th grade…all at Sharon! I am dual certified, have earned multiple endorsements (gifted, ESL, and reading), and later earned my Specialists Degree in Teaching and Leadership. I am passionate about flexible seating, group projects, and having freedom in the classroom! Teaching is my passion!

My name is Mrs. Landwerlen, and I’m thrilled to be teaching another year of 4th Grade at Sharon Elementary. Fourth grade is my absolute favorite grade to teach because children at this age love to discover and explore new ideas.  This year your child will embark on an amazing journey filled with learning, laughter, and a growing independence.

This January will mark my 15th year of teaching. Prior to coming to Forsyth County, I taught in Alabama for thirteen and a half years. I graduated from Auburn University of Montgomery with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.  In 2013 I obtained my master’s degree in Gifted Education from Troy University of Dothan. I have experience working with students in third through sixth grade and have worked with students with varying levels of ability. My personal teaching philosophy is to ignite a passion for learning by making school a place where children want to come.

We moved to Georgia last January due to my husband’s work as a computer engineer. My husband James and I have two boys, Mitchell (age 16) and Parker (age 13). Mitchell is attending Lambert and Parker is at Riverwatch.  Our other family member is our lab mix, Lil Bit (9).  My parents, sister and brother live in Alabama, and my husband’s family lives in Indianapolis.  We love spending time with them every chance we get.

I enjoy all water activities, reading a good book, and making memories with my friends and family members. Looking forward to another great year at Sharon Elementary-Go Knights!!

Hi there! My name is Courtney Miotti and I am absolutely ecstatic to be a part of the Sharon family this year! I take pride in graduating from Georgia College and State University with my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, as well as a Reading Endorsement. I am also an Apple Certified Educator. I have had experience in kindergarten, first grade, and fifth grade. I spent the 2018-  2019 school year teaching some fantastic fifth graders at Dames Ferry Elementary School in Jones County. One of my greatest passions is cultivating relationships with my students- I love hearing their stories and perspectives on the world. I have fallen in love with the upper elementary grades and look forward to beginning my adventure in fourth grade this year.

I was raised in Georgia, primarily here in Forsyth County, so this area has been home to me for a very long time. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends, going for walks/runs and reading books about personal growth and leadership. I love volunteering as well. I have been a mentor leader for many different students ages 4-18 in multiple diverse environments. This year, I will begin a new volunteer journey as a group leader for a small group of high school girls at my church.

My name is Jessica Nardecchia, and I am so excited to be returning to both 4th Grade and Sharon Elementary this year.

I earned both my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and my Master of Arts in Education, with an endorsement in reading, from The University of Findlay, located in Ohio. My husband, Cory, and I relocated from Ohio to the Atlanta area in 2014 and immediately fell in love with the Georgia life!

The 2019-2020 school year will be my 6th year teaching. Before coming to Sharon Elementary, I taught as a 3rd-grade teacher in Gwinnett County Public Schools. During my time in Gwinnett, I completed my gifted endorsement, enabling me to encourage innovative and creative thinking in my classroom. I enjoy fostering a supportive family-like feel in my classroom, where students feel supported and encouraged in their learning.

When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy crafting, sewing, quilting, and reading! My husband and I enjoy watching movies, attending concerts, going out to eat, and spending time with friends. We also love going on walks, playing, and exploring new areas with our dog, Delaney.
