    Mrs. Barinowski Barinowski, Kristen P.E.

Hi!  Since Barinowski is such a long name, I go by Coach Bear.  I am so excited to return to Sharon for my 10th year!  I will be teaching Physical Education for grades K-5.

Prior to my arrival at Sharon I taught Health, Aerobic Dance, and Personal Fitness at Forsyth Central High School. While at Central, I was also the head volleyball coach, football cheer coach, and the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) leader.

I grew up in a small town in Missouri called Poplar Bluff.  I was honored to serve my state as the 1994 Miss Teen of Missouri...Girls, always remember that you can be BOTH athletic and feminine!  After my high school graduation in 1994, I declined an invitation to do long jump for the Navel Academy and accepted a full scholarship at Three Rivers College to play volleyball. I also received scholarship as part of  the co-ed basketball cheerleader squad at Three Rivers College.  In 1996, I moved to Georgia to attend State University of West Georgia on a full volleyball scholarship. I also qualified for the Hope Scholarship. In 1998-99, I continued my education at West Ga. on scholarship as the student strength and conditioning coach/athletic trainer for the volleyball team.  I graduated with a B.S. in Education and certification to teach Health and Physical Education for grades K-12.

Throughout my college years, I also participated in Olympic Weightlifting competitions. In 1996, as the National Jr. Olympic Champion, I had the awesome opportunity to lift in an exhibition meet in the '96 Olympics.

I have been married for 18 years to my best friend, David. We have been blessed with two wonderful children, Averi (14) and Josh (12).  A fun fact about our family is that Averi and Josh share the same birthday!

Currently, I enjoy playing tennis, running ( I ran my first marathon in November, 2011), and reading. I especially enjoy time with my family on Lake Lanier boating, swimming and skiing.

I am truly blessed to get paid to do what I love.... in best school, with the best teachers and students!

Wendy Kunich Kunich, Wendy P.E. Instructional Assistant

This is my 14th year at Sharon Elementary, and I will be assisting Coach Bear in P.E.  I look forward to working with your students and welcoming many of you all to the Sharon Family.  I have been married 26 years to my husband.  We have 2 boys, and both of them attended Sharon Elementary.  Our oldest will be a junior in college, and our younger son will be a freshman in college.  I have been fortunate to not only be a staff member at Sharon, but also be a parent at the school.  There is no better place to have your children attend their elementary school years!!!

I am a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in English. After graduating from college, I worked in corporate, and then stayed home a few years to raise the boys. I taught pre-school for 3 years, and when my youngest started kindergarten at Sharon, I became part of the staff.  I enjoy spending time with my husband and sons.  We enjoy going to college football games, traveling, and exercising.

    Mr. Beaton Beaton, Jeremy Art

I believe art education provides students with opportunities for self expression and creative learning. I am excited to be entering into my 6th year as an art teacher at Sharon. As part of my classroom curriculum, I want to provide our students with a solid foundation in art techniques and art history.

My educational background includes Teacher Certification in Art Education (K-12) and degrees in Graphic Design, Ceramics, and Psychology.  I enjoy creating artwork, visiting museums and local galleries, traveling, cycling, and spending time with my family.

    Ms. Flath Flath, Leslie  Counselor

My name is Leslie Flath and this is my eleventh year as a school counselor.  I earned my B.S. of Psychology from Mary Washington College in Virginia and my M.Ed. in School Counseling from the University of Massachusetts in Boston. Prior to becoming a school counselor I taught special education in kindergarten through seventh grade. I believe that every child has the ability to achieve their goals and dreams. My desire as a school counselor is to work together with our community and families to ensure the success of each of our students.

    Simmons Simmons, Elizabeth Music

My name is Elizabeth Simmons, and I am excited to teach your child band, chorus, and general music this year. Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Bryan College and a Masters in Music Education from North Texas State, I am certified to teach grades K-12 with a gifted endorsement. In June of 2011, I finished a Specialist in Technology degree with Lesley University. Finally, five years ago, I completed Orff Level I Certification.

Happily, I'm married with three daughters, the eldest served in the United States Air Force while finishing a degree in aeronautical engineering.  She is married and works in Ft. Worth. Another is a nurse, heading up the simulation lab at a nearby school of nursing.  The youngest daughter graduated from UGA in Economics and works here in Atlanta.  The most interesting person in our family is our dog, Sawyer. He’s a Sheltie who dresses as a pirate every Halloween.

What does our family do for fun?  On weekends in the fall, we cheer for the Georgia Bulldogs football team!  On sunny days, we ride wave runners on Lake Lanier.

Mrs. Cooper Cooper, Kimberly  Science Lab

We also offer a chance for your students to participate in Science Night and our annual DIGS Days.

An overview of grade level topics, quarterly rotations, and science links are available on itsLearning.
Alan and I moved to FoCo in 2000 where we have loved raising our two children. Both of my children attended Sharon ES and are now back in the same school at Lambert High School. Mason is a junior and Alexa is freshman.

    Mrs.Oliver Oliver, Katrina Science Lab

I graduated with a three-year Veterinary Technology diploma.  My favorite position was as a technologist in an exotic animal veterinary practice in Toronto, Canada.  We cared for birds, reptiles, amphibians, rabbits, and 'pocket pets'.  Most of our time was spent on educating pet owners on how to take care of these animals in the best way.  This is one of the reasons why I enjoy educating children about respecting and understanding different types of animals.

My husband Doug and I grew up in Ontario, Canada and moved here in 1998.  I have stayed at home with my 2 daughters.  Ella is in high school and Anna is in middle school.  While they both attended Sharon Elementary, I volunteered as Room Mom several times, helped with 2nd grade's chick hatching program, became a Science Mom, and became a part of the Science/DIGS committee.  I enjoy working in the Science Lab and in the DIGS because I believe in the importance of hands-on experiences for children to really understand the concepts that they are learning.  As you have read, I no longer have children in Sharon Elementary but I have stayed to volunteer because I love to see student reactions when they understand or experience something new!  I live in Suwanee, with my family and a great dane, maltese, 2 cats, 2 rats, 2 sugar gliders, and a small snake.  I am so excited about our new Science Special and look forward to this year!
