Manny Avella I am a graduate of the University of North Georgia where I received my degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education, as well as my reading endorsement. I am so excited to be teaching fourth grade again this year! In my free time I enjoy being at the pool, shopping, and spending time with family, friends, and my two sweet fur babies- Wednesday and Ralphie!

Emma Mellott Hi comets! My name is Emma Mellott and I will be apart of the 4th grade team this year. I recently graduated from the University of North Georgia with a Bachelor’s in Elementary and Special Education with an endorsement in reading. I spent the last year student teaching at Silver City and I am so excited to come back as an official teacher. 350370

Carlie Nix Mrs. Nix is going into her sixth year teaching 2nd grade. She received her bachelors in Elementary Education/Early Childhood Education at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She has attended multiple professional development seminars that help her support her students in the best way possible. Some of those include trainings for Seesaw, myOn, brainPOP, EnVision Math, and much more. In her spare time she loves to go on walks with her husband Calvin, son William, daughter Lilly, and her puppy Layla. She is excited for this upcoming school year and the chance to keep learning along side her students. GO COMETS! 350371

Anne Sorenson I started teaching in Forsyth County in 2001. I have been at Silver City since it opened in 2006. I am one of the original Comets! I have taught K, 2nd, 4th, and gifted. I am excited to be teaching 4th grade. I work to foster a love for learning in each child that I teach. I have a bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Wesleyan College, and Master of Education from Lesley University. I received my gifted endorsement in 2007. My husband, Kevin, and I have two children, Joel and Rebecca, that are the light of our lives. We have three furry babies Luke, Hazel, and Harmony. I look forward to an amazing year! 350375

Emily Souders My name is Emily Souders and I am so excited to be your child’s fourth grade teacher this year! This will be my 11th year teaching and my 6th year as a Comet. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood/Special Education along with a reading endorsement in 2012 from NGCSU , my Master’s degree from Valdosta State University in 2017 and just recently earned my math endorsement through Forsyth County Schools. I have teaching experience in Kindergarten, 1st and 3rd grade. There is nothing better than watching my students grow in their excitement for learning while taking ownership of our classroom! In my free time, I LOVE traveling as well as spending time with my husband Noah (who teaches English at WFHS) and our two kiddos, Vivian (3.5) and Bennett (will be 1 in Oct). 350374
