I am so excited to be beginning my fifth year as a Comet! This will be my 12th year teaching 5th grade, and my 21st year of teaching in all. I am so excited to teach math and science again this year. I LOVE math! I am married and have 3 children: a daughter who is a sophomore at UGA (Go Dawgs!), a son in 12th grade, and a son in 9th grade. We love to spend our free time out on the lake, traveling, watching college football, or watching the Braves. I am looking forward to a fabulous year!

In 2005, after leaving the IT world, I graduated from Brenau University with a B.S. Degree in Early Childhood Education. Teaching reading and writing and helping my teammates has always been my passion, so I furthered my education and completed a Masters Degree in Reading and Literacy in August 2007 and a Specialist Degree in Teacher Leadership in 2012 from Walden University. I am the mom of two amazing boys, Joey and Luke. I enjoy spending time with my family and my dog, Ranger. 350386 DenJohnson@forsyth.k12.ga.us Melanie Long I am honored to have been a member of the Silver City family since 2015.
