Natalie Bennett This is will be my 8th year teaching and all have been in 5th grade! I will be starting my fifth year here at Silver City and have loved being a Comet! I graduated from North Forsyth and have lived in Forsyth county my entire life. I received my bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State University and my master’s from Georgia Southern. I love to travel and spend time with my family. I coach high school softball at East Forsyth High School and am a huge sports fan, Go Broncos and Go Braves! I can’t wait to start the year off! 350393

Laura Golota Hi! I am so excited to be beginning my fourth year as a Comet! This will be my 11th year teaching 5th grade, and my 20th year of teaching in all. I am so excited to teach math and science again this year. I LOVE math! I am married and have 3 children: a daughter who is a freshman at the University of North Georgia, a son in 11th grade, and a son in 8th grade. We love to spend our free time out on the lake, traveling, watching college football, or watching the Braves. I am looking forward to a fabulous year!

Susan Grizzle My name is Susan Grizzle, and this is my 20th year teaching in Forsyth County. Having attended Forsyth County schools for my K-12 education, it is a privilege to teach in the same system that raised me! My passion is teaching reading and history, and I love 5th grade! I have a wonderful husband and 2 sons--Wyatt and Will. Wyatt is entering 7th grade and Will is entering 1st grade here at Silver City. I enjoy reading, decorating my home, and going to Braves games in my spare time! Looking forward to a great year! 350381

Denise Johnson I’ve been part of the Silver City family since 2008, and I have taught grades 2nd through 5th during my career. In 2005, after leaving the IT world, I graduated from Brenau University with a B.S. Degree in Early Childhood Education. Teaching reading and writing and helping my teammates has always been my passion, so I furthered my education and completed a Masters Degree in Reading and Literacy in August 2007 and a Specialist Degree in Teacher Leadership in 2012 from Walden University. I am the mom of two amazing boys, Joey and Luke. I enjoy spending time with my family and my dog, Ranger. 350386

Melanie Long I am honored to have been a member of the Silver City family since 2015. Prior to moving to Georgia, I lived in North Carolina where I taught math and science for 14 years before becoming a math and science coach for an additional 3 years. I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Administration from UNC-Pembroke. In 2020 I earned the Georgia math endorsement. I am blessed with 5 amazing children, Mallory, Haylie, Joshua, Samantha, and Dylan. Additionally, I have 3 wonderful children as my children’s spouses. Wesley is married to Mallory, Morgan is married to Joshua, and Garret is married to Samantha. Last, but certainly not least, I have 6 adorable grandchildren, Easton, Evie, Killian, Bella and Ryan and Riley. In November of 2023 I will welcome a new grandbaby. I enjoy spending time with my family as well as hiking and backpacking. 350411

My name is Jeania Smith and this is my eighth year at Silver City and my fourth year in 5th grade. I love being a Comet! I teach 5th-grade English Language Arts and Social Studies. Katie Vaughan Hi there! I'm Katie Vaughan, and I am excited to begin my 15th year of teaching this year here at Silver City. I am a proud product of the Forsyth County School System and am honored to teach in the community where I was raised. I attended the University of Georgia where I earned my BSEd, MEd, and EdS in Early Childhood Education. I am a proud Triple Dawg! My husband, Nathan, and I live in the Silver City community with our two beautiful daughters, Blakely and Brooke. We enjoy attending UGA football, baseball, and basketball games with our family. Emily Ginn Hi Comets! I am so excited to teach 5th grade this year! I graduated from Young Harris College and earned a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Georgia Southern and a Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership from Valdosta State. My husband and I make our home in the North Forsyth area and have three boys- Liam is in 5th grade, Carter is in 8th and Dylan is in 9th. I am passionate about building strong relationships with students and families and strive to make learning engaging and meaningful for all. 350412
