Second Grade Teachers
School Phone: (770) 346-0040 Laura Carrico Twenty years ago I began my journey in education, and this is my 14th year at Vickery Creek Elementary. I have taught grades 2, 4, and 5 at VCE, and even spent one year teaching a K-5 writing class on the specials team. I was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology from the University of Maryland in 1995, and completed my teacher certification at Brenau University in 2005. I live in Cumming with my husband, Mike, our dogs, Frankie and Sophie, and our cats, Tess and Finn. Teaching is hard work, but it is worth the effort when I get to share in the joy of exploration and discovery with my students. email@example.com Marcy Clark Hi! My name is Marcy Clark, and I am thrilled to be teaching 2nd grade this year! I grew up in Texas and received my teaching degree from The University of Texas. I have been teaching for 24 years, and every year is a new and wonderful learning experience. I have had the privilege of teaching at VCE for 13 years, and VCE is my home away from home. I have one daughter who attends The University of Georgia. When I am not teaching, you will find me outdoors gardening, hiking, or playing with my dogs. I am looking forward to an amazing year with my class! 180349 firstname.lastname@example.org Sarah Gill
Hi there! My name is Sarah Gill. I like to call myself a Georgia native although I grew up in Washington and Arizona before moving to Georgia. I live here in Cumming with my husband, Christian, and our sweet puppy, Finley. When I’m not at school you’ll find me spending time with my family, on the lake, baking, hiking, or any fun DIY project!
This will be my fifth year teaching at Vickery Creek Elementary School. I recently began working on my masters in Instructional Technology at Kennesaw State University. In 2016, I graduated from the University of North Georgia with a dual degree in Early Childhood and Special Education along with a Reading Endorsement. I cannot wait to meet my new students this year and share my passion for learning!
180353 email@example.com Tina Kersey I am currently teaching second grade. I graduated from the University of South Florida and began teaching first grade at the same school I attended as a child. Later we moved to Georgia where all three of my children attended Vickery Creek schools and I began teaching here at Vickery. I have enjoyed my years at Vickery teaching first and second grades. When I am not living the dream with my amazing students I love being on the lake boating and swimming with my family. I have always wanted to be a teacher and consider it a calling, not a career. I continue to teach with the quote from Henry Adams central in my mind. “ A teacher affects eternity, he can never tell where his influence stops.” 180423 firstname.lastname@example.org Michelle Mize Hi! Hello! I am so excited to be joining the 2nd grade team as one of the virtual teachers! I’m thrilled to become part of the Vickery Creek family. I am originally from Alabama, where I taught 6th grade one year and 1st grade for eleven years. I took a break from teaching for a few years to stay at home with my son. He’ll be in kindergarten at VCE; I’m so excited that we’re going back to school together!
I earned my Bachelor’s from the University of South Alabama and my Master’s from Troy University, both degrees in Elementary Education.
My favorite thing about Georgia is the state parks; my son and I are trying to visit them all! We spend a lot of time hiking, playing catch and soccer, reading books, and exploring Disney +. I also enjoy baking, crafting, and running.
I look forward to meeting you and your child. I’m looking forward to having many fun learning experiences together!
