The special education department at VCE offers a variety of support services to meet the unique needs of students with special needs. Together, the general education and the special education teacher work to accommodate students with special needs and provide them with the necessary support to help them be successful in the general curriculum.
Katie Johns - IRR Hi! My name is Katie Johns and this will be my first year teaching at Vickery Creek. I attended Georgia Southern and graduated with my Masters In Arts and Teaching. While at Southern I met my husband, Ryan, and we now have two wild kiddos that keep us busy. Charleigh is 5 and will be starting Kindergarten this year here at VCE and Colton is 3. We love spending time together outside, being on the lake, and watching football. I also enjoy running and playing tennis to sharpen my saw. I am so excited to join the Viking family and looking forward to a great year! 180402 firstname.lastname@example.org Ashley McKenna - IRR Hello! I am Ms. McKenna. I went to Valdosta State University for my undergraduate degree in Special Education General Curriculum. I am currently working on my master's degree through Georgia Southern for Special Education. Fun fact, I attended Vickery Creek Elementary as a child, and I was the first charter class of VCE. I went on to Vickery Creek Middle and graduated from West Forsyth High School. Growing up in the Forsyth County schools with the support of my amazing teachers, inspired me to become a special education teacher. I hope to inspire my students in the same way in which I was inspired. 180235 email@example.com Erin Pruitt Hello Vikings! My name is Erin Pruitt and I am joining the 3rd grade team this year to teach ELA and Social Studies. This is my first year at Vickery Creek, but my sixth year in Forsyth County.
I earned my degree in Early Childhood & Special Education from the University of North Georgia where I also obtained a reading endorsement.
In my free time I love to read and travel with my friends.
I am so, so excited to be a Viking this year!
180269 firstname.lastname@example.org Misty Sprayberry - IRR My husband, Timothy and I have been married for 17 years. He is a retired Deputy Sheriff. We have two sons Keith (13) and Logan (9). We recently moved back to Timothy’s hometown of Rome, Ga. After graduating college, I was an Operations Manager for a local bank in Cumming. With the birth of my son Logan, I realized that I wanted a career change. My first experience in education was at a preschool where I worked my way up to Center Director. Realizing that teaching is my true passion, I joined Vickery Creek Elementary as a Kindergarten Paraprofessional. I am excited to continue my educational journey as a Special Education teacher! I chose Early Childhood Education because I believe that a lifelong love of learning is sparked early in children. Watching children learn and realize they really can accomplish their goals is something I am lucky to be a part of. 180302 email@example.com Amy Waller - IRR

180342 email@example.com Amy Rodriguez - Specialized Instruction
My name is Amy Rodriguez and I’m celebrating my 6th year here…this time around. I was an instructional assistant many years ago when my own children, Daniel (now 24) and Ellie (now 22) attended VCE. Even after all these years and many changing faces, it continues to feel like home!
I’m a Wisconsin Badger by birth, but after 27 years of marriage to a Georgia grad, I consider myself a true Bulldog. 😊 My husband and I are empty nesters and are approaching our 3rd year living in Dahlonega. The commute is hefty, but well worth it since many weekends are spent kayaking and enjoying all that our little town has to offer.
This is going to be an exciting year of challenges and growth for each of our students, but we will tackle each hurdle and celebrate each success as a team. I have no doubt that there will be an abundance of laughter and silliness as we learn and play together.
Here’s to a fabulous 2019-2020 school year!
180330 firstname.lastname@example.org Emily Muniz - Specialized Instruction I’m originally from Miami but grew up here in Georgia. This is my 4th year of teaching.
