The special education department at VCE offers a variety of support services to meet the unique needs of students with special needs. Together, the general education and the special education teacher work to accommodate students with special needs and provide them with the necessary support to help them be successful in the general curriculum.

Hi! I am Katie Baylin, and this is my third year teaching here at Vickery Creek! I attended the University of North Georgia, and graduated in 2017 with a dual degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. My favorite thing about being a teacher is helping students find a personalized learning style that they love and can be successful using. When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and family, traveling to new places, and reading. I am so excited to be a Vickery Creek Viking!
180514 email@example.com Ashley McKenna - IRR Hello! I am Ms. McKenna. I went to Valdosta State University for my undergraduate degree in Special Education General Curriculum. I am currently working on my master's degree through Georgia Southern for Special Education. Fun fact, I attended Vickery Creek Elementary as a child, and I was the first charter class of VCE. I went on to Vickery Creek Middle and graduated from West Forsyth High School. Growing up in the Forsyth County schools with the support of my amazing teachers, inspired me to become a special education teacher. I hope to inspire my students in the same way in which I was inspired. 180235 firstname.lastname@example.org Misty Sprayberry - IRR My husband, Timothy and I have been married for 17 years. He is a retired Deputy Sheriff. We have two sons Keith (13) and Logan (9). We recently moved back to Timothy’s hometown of Rome, Ga. After graduating college, I was an Operations Manager for a local bank in Cumming. With the birth of my son Logan, I realized that I wanted a career change. My first experience in education was at a preschool where I worked my way up to Center Director. Realizing that teaching is my true passion, I joined Vickery Creek Elementary as a Kindergarten Paraprofessional. I am excited to continue my educational journey as a Special Education teacher! I chose Early Childhood Education because I believe that a lifelong love of learning is sparked early in children. Watching children learn and realize they really can accomplish their goals is something I am lucky to be a part of. 180295 email@example.com Amy Waller - IRR
Hey there! My name is Amy Waller and I am so happy to be a part of the Vickery Creek family! Although I have been teaching for 10 years, this is my first year at VCE. My family and I relocated to Cumming from Florida 3 years ago. In Florida, I taught first grade for 6 years, second grade for 1 year, and then served as an Instructional Technology Coach for 3 years.
My husband Scott and I will be celebrating 10 years of marriage this year! We have 2 beautiful little girls, Emily who is 8 and in 3rd grade, and Reese, who is 6 and in kindergarten. In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, watching football (GO GATORS!!), crafts, and shopping.
Again, I am so thrilled to be at VCE serving these amazing kiddos. It’s going to be a great year!

My name is Amy Rodriguez and I’m celebrating my 6th year here…this time around. I was an instructional assistant many years ago when my own children, Daniel (now 24) and Ellie (now 22) attended VCE. Even after all these years and many changing faces, it continues to feel like home!
I’m a Wisconsin Badger by birth, but after 27 years of marriage to a Georgia grad, I consider myself a true Bulldog. 😊 My husband and I are empty nesters and are approaching our 3rd year living in Dahlonega. The commute is hefty, but well worth it since many weekends are spent kayaking and enjoying all that our little town has to offer.
This is going to be an exciting year of challenges and growth for each of our students, but we will tackle each hurdle and celebrate each success as a team. I have no doubt that there will be an abundance of laughter and silliness as we learn and play together.
Here’s to a fabulous 2019-2020 school year!
