Originally from southern California, I moved to north Georgia from Virginia in 2000. I have taught everything from pre-K through sixth grade over the past 28 years, but now have my dream job as the Science specialist at Chattahoochee. I am married and have 2 grown children, a cockapoo, and our lab mascot, an African tortoise. I enjoy learning new things, travelling, and spending time with my family. I have spent several summers at Jekyll Island and love supporting the Sea Turtle Center. I believe science should be taught as a verb, and Albert Einstein said it best, “Play is the highest form of research”.

Ever go diving on a wreck called the Mercedes off of Fort Lauderdale? How about feeding sharks and stingrays with the Aqua Zoo? I did. I am Coach Spera.
