Welcome to Spanish class!  At Little Mill Middle School, students learn to comprehend, read, write, and speak in Spanish.  It is our goal to help students reach their full potential whether they have studied Spanish in the past or if this is their first opportunity to learn the language.
     Spanish I (High School Credit)
Students enrolled in Spanish I follow the high school curriculum.  Upon successful completion of level I, students are eligible to receive high school credit and enter their freshman year in level II Spanish.  Over the course of Spanish I, students focus on communication (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) in the Spanish language. Students will complete activities such as oral presentations, group presentations, role-play, conversations, skits, projects, readings, writing activities, songs, and games. This course will require ongoing studying, memorization, and practice in order to build the foundation necessary to succeed at this level and beyond.
    Eighth Grade Spanish
This course is an academic elective and follows the county curriculum.  Students are introduced to the basic skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking in Spanish.  The goal is for students to increase cultural awareness through various thematic units; i.e. school, family, food, travel.  Students will complete activities such as conversation, role-play, projects, songs, and games. This course will better prepare students to be successful in Spanish I in the freshman year.
We are confident that your child will enjoy Spanish class and that you will be surprised by what they learn throughout the year.
