My name is Jana Austin, and I am excited to be teaching PreK at Poole’s Mill! I have a B.S. in Special Education from University of Georgia, with an ESOL endorsement, and am working on my Reading Endorsement, as well as a Masters in Reading Education. I worked at Silver City Elementary School for 10 years, with 9 years being in PreK and one year in Kindergarten. I am excited to be at Poole’s Mill Elementary for its second year! I am happily married and have five daughters. I am also the proud owner of Freya, the Poole’s Mill Elementary therapy dog! I am looking forward to a very exciting school year!
Crystal Brennan I have been teaching for several years and have loved every minute of it! I have taught third grade, fourth grade, interrelated second and third grade, and specialized instruction. I love learning and working with children. Marie Haley I graduated from Wheelock College in Boston, MA in 1992 with a degree in Early Childhood Education and Young Children with Special Needs. I began my teaching career in Fulton County, working in the special needs Pre-K / Kindergarten department for sixteen years. I received my Master's Degree in Interrelated Special Education from the University of North Georgia in 2001. I was raised in Alpharetta, GA. I received a Bachelor of Education from the University of North Georgia. I also hold a special education certificate to teach K-12. I have taught K-5 special education, K-5 EIP, 2nd, and 3rd grades. My husband Jeff and I live in Canton, GA with our children Colby, Mathis, and Rory. I am so excited to be part of the Poole's Mill family. This is my first year at Poole’s Mill and I am very excited to be a part of the ship! Before transferring to Poole’s Mill, I taught K-5 Special Education at Cumming Elementary, Silver City Elementary, and Daves Creek Elementary. I am a graduate of the University of North Georgia. My husband and I live in Forsyth County and are blessed with three precious children. I look forward to serving the students and families of PME!

Hi Pirates! My name is Katie Mendez! I graduated from North Georgia College and State University in 2008 and earned my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education & Special Education with a Reading Endorsement. I have been a Special Education teacher since 2009! My husband Robert and I are natives to Forsyth County Schools and live local to the community! Our children Robert and Anniston are Poole’s Mill Pirates as well! We are all excited for another fantastic year at Poole’s Mill Elementary School!

I have taught 1st and 2nd grade IRR, K-2 Moderate Intellectual Disabilities, and 1-5 Skills Based Autism. I love spending time with my family and all things outdoors! After graduating, I was hired to teach at West Forsyth High school, where I taught Skills Based Autism for three years.
