Department Overview: The Social Studies Department at West Forsyth is committed to preparing our students to be responsible, productive citizens as well as life-long learners primed for the challenges of an ever-changing world. We want our students to become critical thinkers and to have knowledge of our world's past and present. Students will learn about each historical era pertaining to the Americas, Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Our courses also include the social sciences of Psychology and Sociology. Our hope is have them develop an appreciation in our ever-changing world of diverse civilizations and cultures as well as how they have impacted our political and economic ideals that still influence their lives today. While working with teachers, students will have experiences with collaborative projects, field trips, speakers, and more to help foster their growth.
