Mrs. Alyssa Degliumberto - Principal

i am fortunate to work alongside amazing students, parents, and teachers each day at johns creek elementary.  creating a lifelong love of learning for our students is such an important role as an educator, and continuing to be a lifelong learner as an educator is just as key to student success.  i received my bachelor's degree in elementary education-biology from trenton state college, an mba from georgia state university, an educational specialist degree in leadership and supervision from lincoln memorial university, and also holds a gifted endorsement.

prior to moving to georgia, i was a departmental science teacher for grades 5-8 in new jersey.  when we moved to georgia, i joined forsyth county at big creek elementary.  while there, i held a variety of teaching and leadership positions, including 5th-grade teacher and 5th-grade team leader.  my love for transforming my classroom instructional strategies by utilizing the amazing instructional technology resources forsyth county has to offer led me to move into the instructional technology specialist position.  as this k-5 curriculum and instruction leader, i was able to dive into k-5 standards in all subjects and go into classrooms to support students’ acquisition of these standards using a variety of instructional resources.   i held this position for several years and then continued in this role working with students for the next four years as i helped open sharon elementary as their instructional technology specialist.  when johns creek elementary opened, i had the privilege of opening our school as an assistant principal and was then appointed as principal in 2009.

visiting classrooms and interacting with students, parents, and teachers is such a rewarding part of my day!  being able to be a part of the moments when a child experiences success, when something new clicks, or when a light bulb of discovery lights up…is just priceless!  no matter what career or path a student will choose, their elementary years help serve as the foundation for future success, and what better reward is there than knowing that you were a part of that!

I received my undergraduate degree from North Georgia College and State University with a dual certificate in Early Childhood and Special Education. I then received my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, followed by an Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Most recently, I completed my Tier I Leadership Certificate from Piedmont College and participated in the Forsyth County Schools Aspiring Leaders Program.

For the past thirteen years, I have been an educator in three Forsyth County Schools, between the South and Central Clusters, including JCE, Whitlow, Big Creek, and Cumming Elementary. I have served in a variety of roles, including being an Interrelated Resource teacher, a kindergarten, first and fourth-grade homeroom teacher, an Early Intervention Program (EIP) teacher, and an Instructional Coach. In my previous position,  I had the honor of serving as the Lead Title I Teacher at Cumming Elementary, where I had the opportunity to work alongside the administration to support the entire Cumming community.

I look forward to meeting all of the wonderful Jaguar families of JCE and working together to ensure student success.
