Mrs. Tina Burkhart
Mrs. Burkhart holds a Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She received her Masters in Early Childhood Education from Piedmont College and her undergraduate from Shorter University. She has also earned her Gifted Endorsement. Mrs. Burkhart has taught 13 years in grades PreK, Kindergarten, first and fifth. This is her second year here at JCE. She is looking forward to encouraging her little team of Jaguars in the classroom.

Mrs. Leisa Forman
Mrs. Forman holds a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Valdosta State University. She previously taught 14 years in kindergarten before staying home with her children. Prior to Forsyth, Mrs. Forman taught in Ware County, Henry County and Gwinnett County. She began her journey back into the classroom by volunteering, being a long-term substitute in 3rd and 5th grades and working as an instructional assistant. This will be Mrs. Forman’s fifth year teaching first grade at Johns Creek Elementary.

Mrs. Joan Kim
Ms. Kim holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Sociology from Rutgers University. She has also earned her Masters of Arts in Elementary Teaching. Ms. Kim recently relocated to Georgia from New Jersey in 2021, where she was a teacher for eight years, in first and second grade. She holds a Pre-School through Grade 6 teaching certification and is also certified in Orton-Gillingham, Level 1. Ms. Kim loves being a part of the Johns Creek Elementary School family.

Mrs. Penny La Rocca
Mrs. La Rocca holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s Degree in Mathematics. She has also earned the Gifted and Teacher Leadership Endorsement. Mrs. La Rocca has been nominated for Teacher of the Year three times and earned the title in the 2018-19 school year. She has been a member of the JCE family for eleven years and is looking forward to another successful year.

Ms. Amanda Marks
Ms. Marks attended Georgia Southern University, earning her Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. She also has her ESOL endorsement. Ms. Marks has been teaching for 11 years between Pre-K, Kindergarten, and now 1st grade! Prior to teaching in Forsyth County, she taught in Bulloch, Emanuel, and Gwinnett Counties. This will be her 1st year at Johns Creek Elementary!

Mrs. Christy Wolfe
Christy Wolfe is a born and raised Atlantan! She graduated with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Ga in 2008. She has 12 years of experience teaching grades K-2, in both private and public settings. Christy is beyond excited to be joining the JCES family this year!
