The math department here at "The Grove" believes that students learn by doing.  Therefore, we often conduct our math classes much like a laboratory.  Using manipulatives and technology brings excitement to our classroom.  We use discovery activities to help students see the relevance of mathematics in their everyday lives.  We use a variety of tasks to take students beyond memorization of rules and basic computation into stages of application and analysis.  Our goal is to create mathematical problem solvers.
Forsyth County Schools uses the  Georgia  Standards of Excellence as its curriculum.  Furthermore, we use  a variety of resources to facilitate mastery of these standards.
In addition to the classroom setting, PGMS is proud once again to have a Math Club.  Students of all grade levels are encouraged to attend. Karin Francis and Jennifer Higgins sponsor this organization.  A competition team will be formed from the 7th and 8th graders to represent PGMS and compete at local competitions.
The mathematics teachers here at Piney Grove are committed to helping your child succeed.  If we can ever be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
