Ms. Barnes

Ms. Barnes is a native of Forsyth County, where she attended elementary, middle, and high school. She then attended The University of Southern Mississippi where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and a minor in English. Ms. Barnes also attended Piedmont College, where she received a master’s degree in elementary education with a gifted endorsement. She is currently working on her specialist degree at Georgia Southern in elementary education with a leadership endorsement. She taught in New Orleans, LA for three years before returning to Forsyth County to continue her teaching career. This will be her sixth year in the county and her ninth year of teaching. She is so happy to continue teaching 3rd grade at Brookwood, and can’t wait for another AWESMAZING year!

Mrs. Hohlbein earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a Master’s Degree in Reading from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. This year will mark her 15th year of teaching. She has taught grades 1, 2, and 3 in Florida, Georgia, and Ohio, and this is her 9th year in Forsyth County. She feels privileged to have the opportunity to work alongside you and your child this school year.

Mrs. Humeniuk

Mrs. Humeniuk was born in Atlanta and moved to Cumming in 1989. She graduated from Forsyth Central and went onto college to pursue her teaching degree. Mrs. Humeniuk played softball at Middle Georgia College and transferred to North Georgia, where she received her Bachelor's Degree. She earned her Master's Degree from Walden University. This is her fourth year at Brookwood! She taught 2nd grade at Gainesville Elementary for ten years before becoming a Bobcat. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, sports, and teaching! She is proud to be a teacher here at Brookwood and is looking forward to an amazing year!

Mrs. Kopras

Mrs. Kopras grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati and her master' s degree from Northern Kentucky University. Mrs. Kopras earned a gifted endorsement in 2015. She has previously taught in Cincinnati, Ohio, and at Big Creek Elementary and John's Creek Elementary in Forsyth County. Mrs. Kopras came to Brookwood when this amazing school opened in 2009. She enjoys spending time with her family, loves cooking, traveling, SEC sports, and reading. Mrs. Kopras has been teaching for 26 years and can't wait to have another fantastic year at Brookwood!

Mrs. McCavitt is entering her 21st year of teaching. She graduated from Marshall University with a bachelor's degree in Education and is certified to teach the alternate curriculum in Georgia. She has taught 5th grade general education, K-5 in the Mild Intellectual Disability classroom, and is starting her 4th year as the Autism teacher at Brookwood. Mrs. McCavitt is thrilled to teach in a classroom where she can begin to teach at the level where each child is. She loves teaching and exploring replacement behaviors and finding ways for all of her students to be the best version of themselves. Her experience at Brookwood has been some of the best years in her teaching career, and she looks forward to having another amazing year with her wonderful, talented, fun, and sweet students!

Ms. Montalto was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of North Florida. She also holds an endorsement in ESOL. This will be her 7th year as a classroom teacher, but her 10th year in the education field and her second year at Brookwood. Ms. Montalto has taught second, third, and fourth grades. She is so excited to have another year at this amazing school!

Mrs. Philmon is a University of Georgia graduate who has taught preschool, kindergarten, and first grade in Gwinnett County and Forsyth County for 22 years. She holds both Reading and ESOL endorsements and is currently pursuing a Masters in Reading Instruction. She is excited to be joining the third grade team for the 2020-2021 school year and looks forward to her seventh year here at Brookwood. Let's Go Be Awesome Bobcats!

Ms. Watts is beginning her 19th year of teaching. She received her undergraduate degree from St. Joseph’s College in General Education and Special Education and her Master’s from Long Island University in Literacy. She is super excited to teach 3rd grade at Brookwood and looks forward to an amazing year!
