Hey Bobcats! This will be my 8th year teaching at Brookwood, but my first year in 4th grade! I have taught 2nd grade for the past seven years, and I can't wait for this new adventure in 4th! I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama - Roll Tide! I love cheering on all Atlanta sports teams, exercising, going to the beach, and hanging out with my husband and sweet pup, Hudson. This is my 14th year of teaching, and I'm looking forward to a wonderful year in 4th grade. This is my fourth year in 4th grade. Previously, I taught 5th grade at Brookwood for four years, and before being at Brookwood, I taught grades 2 through 6 at schools in Floyd and Gordon counties. I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Berry College with both an ESOL and a Gifted Endorsement. I also completed a two-year teacher training course on S.T.E.M. through Kennesaw State University. I'm passionate about reading, history, and traveling, and I love being able to combine those interests in my classroom. I'm looking forward to a fabulous year of working with your fourth grader!

Mrs. Hohlbein

Mrs. Hohlbein earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a Master’s Degree in Reading from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. This year will mark her 16th year of teaching. She has taught grades 1, 2, and 3 in Florida, Georgia, and Ohio, and this is her 11th year in Forsyth County. She feels privileged to have the opportunity to work alongside you and your child this school year.

Ms. Huyer

Hello Bobcats! I'm excited for a new year at Brookwood with my amazing 4th graders. I am originally from the Grand Rapids, MI area but have spent the last 18 years in Cumming. For the past 14 years, I have taught grades K, 1, 2, and 4. My degrees are in Pk-5 Elementary Education with Minors in Spanish and Economics from Michigan State University and M.Ed in Educational Leadership from Georgia State. My husband, Jeff, and I have and a 5th grade son and an 8th grade daughter. My hope as a mom and a teacher is to help children grow in knowledge, self-confidence, curiosity, critical thinking, and kindness!

Mr. Leo

Mr. Leo is beginning his 22nd year of teaching. He has four college degrees, including his master degree in education from Duquesne University and his specialist degree in leadership from Lincoln Memorial. He moved to Georgia from Pittsburgh in 2002 and has taught in both Gwinnett and Forsyth County school systems. This will be his 8th year as a Bobcat!

Mrs. McCavitt

Mrs. McCavitt is entering her 21st year of teaching. She graduated from Marshall University with a bachelor's degree in Education and is certified to teach the alternate curriculum in Georgia. She has taught 5th grade general education, K-5 in the Mild Intellectual Disability classroom, and is starting her 4th year as the Autism teacher at Brookwood. Mrs. McCavitt is thrilled to teach in a classroom where she can begin to teach at the level where each child is. She loves teaching and exploring replacement behaviors and finding ways for all of her students to be the best version of themselves. Her experience at Brookwood has been some of the best years in her teaching career, and she looks forward to having another amazing year with her wonderful, talented, fun, and sweet students!

Ms. Pettis

Hi, I am Mrs. Pettis, and this is my 8th year teaching and my fourth year at Brookwood! Before teaching fourth grade, I have previously taught second and third grade. Before Brookwood, I spent four years teaching at Gainesville Elementary School. I earned my Associate's Degree from Young Harris College in early childhood education, my bachelor's degree from The University of Georgia in child and family development, and my master's degree from Piedmont College in early childhood education. In addition, I have my math, science, and ESOL endorsements. I am passionate about being active and healthy and love any opportunity to be creative. I absolutely LOVE teaching 4th grade and am thrilled to be a bobcat!!

Mrs. Phillippi

Mrs. Phillippi holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Gifted Endorsement and Reading Endorsement. She has taught third grade, fourth grade, fifth grade, and EIP. This year Mrs. Phillippi will be teaching 4th grade virtually for Brookwood and other nearby elementary schools in Forsyth County. Mrs. Phillippi has been with Brookwood Elementary since 2014. Mrs. Phillippi loves her job and is a proud Brookwood Bobcat!

Hi! I am excited to be starting my 4th year as a Brookwood Bobcat teaching 4th grade. I previously taught K,1,2, 4, and 5 in Fulton County for 15 years before coming to Forsyth County. I hold a Bachelor's degree from Georgia Southern University, a Master's degree from Graceland University, and a Reading Endorsement. Some of my interests outside the classroom are playing tennis, reading, and enjoying live music. Let's make today so awesome that yesterday gets jealous!
