My name is Amy Cheyne. I grew up in Arkansas and attended an excellent Fine Arts school called Ouachita Baptist University. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Music Education with an emphasis on voice. I started teaching in North Carolina for four years; then, I moved to Mississippi for ten years, where I taught at an awesome school. Now I've been in Georgia for seven years, and I'm so glad to be at Brookwood as I start my 21st year of teaching.

My passion is art! First, it was to study and make it. Now I love teaching your children about the wonderful world of visual art. I earned a BFA in Illustration from CSU Long Beach. For several years, I worked at a contemporary art museum during the day and freelanced as an illustrator by night. When I turned my attention to education, I earned multiple certifications from the Cal State system, a master’s degree from Troy, and a specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont University. I taught Art at Mary Butler Magnet School for Visual and Performing Arts in Long Beach for five years. I have been the art teacher at Brookwood since we opened the school. This will be my 24th year in education.

I've taught 6th grade math, science, and social studies, middle school PE/Health, and Elementary PE. I've also coached middle school basketball and high school softball and soccer. I am so blessed to be a part of the Brookwood community and excited to start my 14th year in education.
