She is also certified in Special Education General Curriculum (P-12). She has been with Forsyth County Schools for the last 8 years as an Interrelated Teacher (IRR) Resource teacher. She currently teaches grades K-5.

My name is Amanda DeRoy, and I am excited about another year at Brookwood E.S. as a Speech-Language Pathologist. It is my eighteenth year as a SLP. I worked in another school system for six years and worked in the hospital setting full-time for ten years. I continue to enjoy working on the brain injury unit at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, as well as, a private clinic.

Mrs. Gibbons is a Georgia native and is beginning her 20th year in education. She earned her degree in early childhood education at Mercer University, masters degree in special education at Brenau and specialist in teaching and learning at Piedmont College. Mrs. Gibbons is excited to be a Brookwood Bobcat!

I began working in Forsyth County as a speech language pathologist in 1999 after obtaining my Master’s Degree in Education/Speech Language Pathology from Valdosta State University. I have enjoyed working with students to improve their communication skills. I was happy to join the Brookwood team in 2011. I look forward to working with the students, parents, and staff of Brookwood!

I joined the Brookwood speech team in 2015. Combined, I have seven years experience providing speech and language services to the birth-geriatric populations. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Northern Iowa in 2007 and went on to complete a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at the University of Central Missouri in 2009. I am very excited to continue my journey at Brookwood and look forward to another great year!

Mrs. McCavitt is entering her 19th year of teaching. She began in NC teaching 5th grade for seven years. Moving to Georgia, she entered into the Special Education field. She has been teaching Special Education in Cobb County for ten years. Mrs. McCavitt is thrilled to be joining the Autism Department at Brookwood and she is looking forward to an amazing year!

I worked for another school system the previous 11 years and worked in the medical setting for 9 years. I graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Communication Disorders and I received my Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Southern Mississippi. I am looking forward to a great year!

My family and I recently moved from Jacksonville, Florida where I taught Kindergarten through Fifth grade in a variety of settings for fourteen years. I graduated from Florida State University with my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Special Education. I then did post-graduate work on Language Disorders and Social Skills in order to earn my Autism Endorsement. Throughout my teaching, I have taught some of the most amazing students and learned a great deal from them.
