Dr. Lynne Castleberry

Dr. Lynne Castleberry has thirty years experience in teaching and learning. She believes that all students at Whitlow Elementary are being prepared for leaders in jobs that don't even exist, yet. She is proud of our staff and students and Whitlow and our State and International STEM Certification. The AdvancED Certification was obtained in November, 2015, and the State of Georgia STEM Certificatoin was obtained in May, 2017. Whitlow was one of 34 elementary schools receiving the AdvancED award and the first elementary school in Georgia. 

 She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Brenau University, her Master's degree in Education from Breneau University, her Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Georgia, and finally, her doctorate from Clemson University. Prior to becoming principal, Dr. Castleberry taught in an elementary school and has served as as assistant principal. She is also the recepient of the Joe Richardson Award for Exemplary Leadership. 

Dr. Castleberry is a Forsyth County native whose heart lies within the Forsyth County School System. As a Forsyth County student herself and a mother of two daughters who attended Forsyth County schools, she has deep roots in the FCSS community. Dr. Castleberry's mother also spent her entire career working in the Forsyth County School System. She appreciates the hard work and commitment that teachers give in their effots into doing, in her words, "what's best for kids". In her free time, she enjoys time with her family, traveling, and fishing for redfish in the Gulf of Mexico.

Mrs. April Busby - Assistant Principal

After earning her Bachelor's Degree in Education, Mrs. Busby began her teaching career in Cobb County as a middle grades math teacher.  While working there, she obtained her Master's Degree in Special Education. She later moved into the role of a Babies Can't Wait Testing Facilitator and then taught in a severe and profound self-contained classroom.  After her family moved to Henry County, she taught IRR in middle grades and a gifted classroom.  Since joining Whitlow, she has not only taught as a 4th and 5th grade teacher but served on various district wide committees and Task Forces, written math curriculum, served as a textbook adoption team member, and was a member of the Forsyth County Coaching Team. In 2019, Mrs. Busby received her Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, followed by the completion of the Aspiring Leaders Cohort for 21-22.  
 
When she's not at Whitlow, she enjoys spending time with her family. Mrs. Busby is married with three children. Savannah is a Junior at West Forsyth. Her oldest son will be a Freshman at West Forsyth and her youngest son Jackson will be a seventh grader at Henricks Middle School. Her family loves the beach, rafting, and traveling in general. 
 
She is so excited to begin her admin journey at Whitlow and connect with all the families we serve!

Mrs. Sally Johnson - Assistant Principal

Sally is entering her thirteenth year as an educator. She has been at Whitlow since we opened in 2009. Over the years, she has worked as a grade-level teacher, EIP teacher, and instructional coach and is now beginning her fourth year as Quality Work Facilitator. Sally holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Auburn University, a Master's degree in reading, language, and literacy from Georgia State, and a specialist degree in curriculum and instruction from Piedmont University. She and her husband, Zac, have a seven-year-old daughter, Harper, and a five-year-old son, Hugh. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Sara Thompson, Administrative Assistant

Mrs. Thompson has been in education since 2012. Before pursuing education as a career, she was a lead pharmacy technician. She has spent the last 7 years in education serving in various leadership and teaching roles. Mrs. Thompson holds a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood and special education from North Georgia College and State University. Her Master’s degree is in early childhood education and her Specialist degree is in curriculum and instruction. She is proud to be a part of Piedmont College’s alumni. Other special certifications include a reading endorsement, dyslexia endorsement, ESOL certification, and she is currently working on her Tier 1 Leadership. Learning and loving children aren’t just passions for Mrs. Thompson; they are a way of life! When Mrs. Thompson isn’t at school, she enjoys kayaking, hiking, and spending time with her husband, Seth, and son, Sawyer.
