Mrs. Katie Harwood - STEM Lab

Hi, I’m Katie Harwood and I am excited to begin my fourth year at Haw Creek as the STEM teacher. I have a Bachelors of Elementary Education and a Masters of Science Education from the State University of New York, College at Buffalo. I have a specialist degree from Valdosta State University in Teaching and Learning. This will be my 20th year teaching science. Previously, I taught middle science in Gwinnett and Forsyth. My husband, Jason and I have two young children that attend Haw Creek. I enjoy spending time with my family, boating, baking, and watching sports. I am excited to share my passion for science with the students of Haw Creek.

Mrs. Melissa Keel - Computer Science

This is my 19th year teaching, and my 18th year here in Forsyth County. I graduated from Auburn University and received my Masters from Georgia State University. My husband, David, and I have 3 children: Brody (9th grade), Brooks (5th grade), and a Blakely (1st grade) We have a labradoodle named Bailey too. I am excited to continue my adventure with Computer Science as a specials class. I hope children can find their passions in my special area class and enjoy participating in the technology. Next year, we are continuing to grow our program and the opportunities available to our students. My job is the best because I get to play and explore right along with the best kids ever!

Dr. Pat Parris

I graduated from Georgia Southern in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in sport management and received my Master's in sports management from Georgia Southern in 2007. I also completed my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University in 2020.

During my time at UNG, I taught the following classes:  Intro to Sport Management classes, Health & Fitness/Physical Activity classes, and Intro to Kinesiology courses. My career has been fulfilling with being an assistant soccer men's coach for seven years at Georgia Southern University and a head men's soccer coach for the University of North Georgia for sixteen years.

I am married to Laura Parris, who also teaches in Forsyth County. We have three incredible children who have also fallen in love with soccer and their own passions.

My free time I dedicate to my family and coaching youth soccer within the community. I enjoy movies, music, and soccer during my free time.

Mrs. Kaitlyn Sneath - Music

Hello Huskies!! My name is Kaitlyn Sneath and I’m excited to be your music teacher this upcoming school year! This is going to be my 13th year of teaching and I’m so glad that it is at Haw Creek Elementary. I graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Winthrop University in Rock Hill,SC in 2010 and I received my Masters in Music Education from the American Band College through Central Washington University in Ashland,OR in 2018. .

I started my teaching career at Alexander Elementary School in Greenville,SC. After three years I was fortunate enough to open up the first ever STEAM middle school in South Carolina, Dr. Phinnize J Fisher Middle School, as the band director. During the pandemic, my husband and I got married and moved to the great state of Georgia. I then taught elementary music for two years in Sandy Springs, GA before coming to Haw Creek.

When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Jason, and our two dogs Cooper and Moxie. I love cooking, traveling, making candles at home, and cheering on UGA (GO DAWGS!). I am also an avid hockey fan and enjoy cheering on the Atlanta Gladiators and the Nashville Predators.

Mrs. April Wylie - Art

Hi, I am thrilled to be the Art teacher at Haw Creek Elementary. I worked as a graphic designer for thirteen years in a variety of media from newspaper advertising for Belk department stores; to television advertising for a FOX affiliate TV station. I also worked in corporate advertising at US Foodservice before I started my career as an art teacher. I have a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Winthrop University (SC) and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Converse College (SC). I taught art for five years in South Carolina before my family moved to Georgia in 2003.
