Hi, my name is Michaela Avila. I am excited to be returning to Haw Creek for my fifth year as your PK-2 School Counselor! Ms. Maida and I are both trained in and are excited to continue implementing the American School Counselor Association National Model into our counseling program at HCES.

I have both a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education from the University of Central Florida and a Master's in Professional School Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have taught abroad for 5 years in Guatemala and Spain- having taught in Kindergarten for three years and as a PK-12 School Counselor for two. In my free time I like being outdoors, spending time with friends and family and baking. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. Hello, my name is Danielle Maida. This will be my 11th year as a School Counselor and 6th year here at Haw Creek Elementary! Ms. Avila and I are trained in and are excited to continue implementing the American School Counselor Association National Model into our counseling program. We are united in nurturing the whole child building strong, well rounded students who can be successful in our society.

In 2015, I received my Master’s in Professional School Counseling from Georgia State University. I also hold a Bachelors's degree from Georgia Southern University. Before joining Haw Creek, I was a counselor in Gwinnett County. This will be my fifth year as the counselor for grades third through fifth.

When I’m not working, I enjoy running with my dog Winnie, reading and relaxing with my family!
