Kim Auer

My name is Kim Auer and I was born in New York. I have lived in Georgia since I was two. I followed in my mom’s footsteps and became a teacher. I graduated from The University of Georgia with a bachelor's degree in Child and Family development. I received my teaching certification from Brenau University.
I have been teaching for 25 years. I started my teaching career as an assistant first grade teacher at The Lovett School. I knew then that I wanted to get certified to teach my own class. I taught the state funded Pre-K program for 4 years while I was at Brenau.
I am happily married to Jason and we have three precious boys, TJ, who is 16, Zack, who is 13 and Logan who is 11. We also have two furry babies, Rory, and Luna.
I have lived in Cumming, Georgia for the past 19 years. I believe it is a wonderful place to raise a family. I am thrilled to be a part of the Kelly Mill Elementary family and I am very excited about this school year.

I grew up in Texas, and earned my BA in English and Master's degree in Teaching from Austin College (north of Dallas) in 1992/93. I have taught grades K-5 in private & public schools in Texas & Georgia. The majority of my teaching experience has been in 2nd and 3rd grades, and this school year marks my 30th in the classroom (my 21st in Forsyth County)! I love to read, travel, create (especially gifts/food for family and friends), and to spend time in nature. My husband Dave and I recently celebrated our 25th anniversary, and our son Will is a junior at Forsyth Central (and a proud member of Flash of Crimson Marching Band). As a teacher, I am continually grateful to play a role in helping each of my students discover, learn, and grow throughout our year together.
