Katie Bailey

My name is Katie Bailey and I am so excited to be joining the Kelly Mill family. This will be my 11th year as an educator. I received my Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University and have spent the last 10 years teaching ESOL in Fulton County.
Prior to teaching I received degrees in International Business and Spanish from the University of Tulsa and spent 10 years in the sales industry. I am a resident of Forsyth county and my husband and I have 4 kids ranging in age from 3 to 20 years old.
My goal is to make sure my students love coming to school each day. I look forward to a great year and can't wait to meet all of our fourth grade DLI students.

Misty Burtz

I love and am honored to be a teacher at Kelly Mill! I have 2 wonderful daughters and enjoy spending time with them. I graduated from University of North Georgia with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Education. I graduated from Piedmont College with a Master's Degree. I have earned my Reading, Math, and ITS Endorsements. Teaching is a work of HEART!

Jason Collins

Hi! I'm Jason Collins. This is my fifth year at Kelly Mill. Prior to Kelly Mill I taught fourth grade at Riverside Elementary in Gwinnett County for 13 years. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Penn State University. and a Masters degree from Troy University. I am married and have four children. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with my family and watching Penn State football!

Joy Eaton

My name is Joy Eaton and this is my 33rd year of teaching. I attended Troy University earning a Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood Education in 1989. In addition, I have earned a math endorsement from the state of Georgia in 2018. I have been a Forsyth County teacher since 2001. The grade levels I have taught are PreK, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade.

Danielle Kirkland

I am so thrilled to be at Kelly Mill. I received my Bachelor's in Middle Level Education from Clayton State University and my Master's and Gifted Endorsement from Kennesaw State University. My husband and I have been married for 18 years and are the proud parents of four Kelly Mill Colts. We also have the best dog in the world, our golden doodle, Bucky-the Winter Solider. I now have the huge honor of teaching our DLI students. I am very passionate about this program and cannot wait to serve our students and families.

Jeff Lopes

I am super excited about starting my fifth year at Kelly Mill. This will be my 28th year in education. I earned my BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Mathematics from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia. I taught in Chesapeake, VA for six years, teaching 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade. My family and I moved to Georgia in 2001. I worked in Gwinnett County for 17 years, teaching 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th/8th grade Math.  I met my wife Cathy in high school, and we've been married for 37 years. We have three sons, all married, and seven grandkids. In my "spare time", I enjoy running, hiking, boating, reading, and hanging out with my family.

Kathleen May

My name is Kathleen May and I am excited to be part of the 4th-grade team this year! I am entering my 21st year of teaching, with 10 of those years here at Kelly Mill. I have actually taught every grade level in elementary, but the upper grades hold a special place in my heart. I graduated from Appalachian State with a degree in Elementary Education and I continued my education to receive a Master’s Degree in reading, and a Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Assessment. Along with my degrees, I have endorsements in math, gifted, and teacher leadership.
My husband, Jason, and I have been married since 2006. We have one child, Nate, who will be in 7th grade at Otwell Middle School. When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family, watching football, and reading.
