    'WatchDOG' Dads Get Involved As Local Volunteers and School Mentors

    What is the Watch D.O.G.S. program?

     Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is an innovative program of the National Center for Fathering focused on improving education in our nation's schools by using the influence of fathers and father-figures to provide a positive & active male role-model for students during their school day.  

     

    Who can become a Watch DOG at Sharon Elementary?

     Any father, step-father, grandfather, or uncle of a Sharon student can sign up to be a Watch DOG.

     

    How can I become a Watch DOG? 

    If you are interested in becoming a Watch DOG at Sharon, contact our Watch DOG Coordinator:

    How long is a Watch DOGS' day?

     The day begins at 7:00 am and lasts until approximately 1:00 pm.

     

    How many days does a Watch DOGS volunteer?

     Watch DOGS are asked to volunteer at least one day throughout the school year but are encouraged to come as often as they are able.

     

     Do I have to buy a Watch DOGS shirt?

     Yes, a Watch DOG Shirt is a required uniform to be worn during your volunteer day(s).

     Any additional Watch DOG items are optional.

     

    How do I order a Watch DOG shirt?

    Complete the Watch DOGS Order Form and send in your form and payment with your student to Sharon.

    How much do shirts cost?

     Shirts cost $10.00.  “Watch DOGS ROCK” shirts are also available for moms to purchase for $10.00.

     

    What do Watch DOGS do at Sharon?

     On your volunteer day you will receive a structured schedule to follow throughout your day.

     You will receive a brief orientation when you arrive. 

     

    What does a typical WatchDOG schedule look like?

      Typically you will:

    ·         Assist with car duty or bus duty in the morning

    ·         Volunteer in several classrooms throughout the day

    ·         Patrol the hallways

    ·         Monitor the lunchroom

    ·         Patrol recess

     

    Will I see my student(s) throughout the day?

     ·         You will be volunteering in your student(s) classroom at least one time during the day 

    ·         You will be schedule to have lunch with at least one of your students
