Special Education Department – Vickery Creek Middle School
Welcome to Vickery Creek Middle School Department for Exceptional Students Web page. Our goal is to provide identified special education students with individualized instruction to support their progress as middle school students.
A bit about what we do...
The Special Education Department team provides support for eligible students as well as their classroom teachers, which may include:
- Support in the Classroom Setting - As determined by a student's IEP and the IEP committee, support provided in the general education classroom by Special Education Staff to ensure the implementation of IEP accommodations and interventions necessary to provide equal access to the curriculum and to assist the student in making progress on his or her IEP goals and objectives.
- Consult Support Services - Provided by Special Education Staff, services with the student and the student's teachers, may include monitoring of IEP accommodations and interventions, support of goals and objectives, support of work habits and organization, related services, and behavior intervention plans and strategies.
- Resource or Small Group Support Classes - As determined by a student's needs and the IEP committee, for students whose needs are best met in a small class setting. Classes may be offered at each grade level for math, ELA, & reading.
At Vickery Creek Middle School, we also have students served in specialized instruction settings, a full time speech language pathologist, and visiting occupational therapist, physical therapist, and orthopedically impaired specialist.
