Jennifer Smith My name is Jennifer Smith and I am very excited to be teaching DLI Kindergarten at Brandywine Elementary for the 2020-21 school year. I graduated from the University of Georgia with my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. After graduation, I taught kindergarten at Harmony Elementary School in Gwinnett County. After having 3 children in 4 years, I decided to take some time off to stay home and raise my children who are currently 12, 13, and 15. During my stay at home mom years, I taught Transitional Kindergarten part time at a private school called Sugar Hill Weekday. My name is Deb Thomas. I graduated from Berry College with a degree in Early Childhood Education. In 2005 and 2008 I went back for my Masters and Specialist Degree in Early Childhood Education. I also hold a Reading Endorsement from Columbus State University. I am a native Georgian and have four grown sons, two beautiful daughters-in-law, four beautiful grandchildren, three dogs, and one crazy cat! I have taught Special Needs Preschool up to First Grade with 20+ years of teaching experience. This is my 18th year with Forsyth County Schools. This year I will be teaching online for virtual Kindergarten.

I attended Georgia Southern University and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have taught for over 20 years. Previously, I taught 2nd Grade for three years, 3rd Grade for four years, Kindergarten for ten years, and before coming to Brandywine I taught for 2 years in the GA Pre-K.My husband and I have a son, Will, who is in 11th Grade this year. In my off time, I like to help out with my sons Boy Scout troop. I am thrilled to be part of the Brandywine team and I am very excited to be part of the Kindergarten team as well. I live in Suwanee with my husband Mike, our daughter Lily Claire, and our dog Charlie. I have been teaching for 20 years, with most of my experience being in kindergarten and first grade. I taught kindergarten for 14 years in Barrow County, and looped up with my class one year to teach 1st grade. My favorite thing to do, besides teaching, is to cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs at Sanford Stadium! I'm looking forward to a great year with you at Brandywine. Leigh Cooper – I am excited to be a part of the Kindergarten team at Brandywine! This will be my seventh year teaching kindergarten. Prior to teaching kindergarten at Midway, I was a para-professional for three years working with as the technology specialist. I also have eight years of teaching experience in first, fourth and fifth grades.
I have been married to my husband, Powell, for twenty-three years. We have four children – Emmy (23), Carly(21), Maribeth(19) and Will(17). I am a Georgia native. I enjoy running, hot yoga and reading in my free time. I love to spend time with family and friends at the beach as well.
I love teaching five and six year olds and helping them develop a love for learning! I look forward to working with the Brandywine Kindergarten Team!

My name is Jill McDaniel and I am originally from South Bend, Indiana. I received my undergraduate degree from Ball State University and my graduate degree from Mercer University. I have over 20 years of teaching experience in Alpharetta. I am really excited to be joining Brandywine Elementary and Forsyth County as a Kindergarten teacher!
I live in Cumming with my husband and two daughters. Stuart is a middle school teacher at Vickery Middle. Mollie is going to be a 8th grader and Madison will be going into 6th grade in the fall. When we are not in the classroom we enjoy being outdoors playing tennis and swimming. Planning a Disney vacation is always a favorite too!
Hi, my name is Kristi Solem, and I am excited to be a part of the Brandywine team and be your child’s Kindergarten teacher! I graduated from Kennesaw State University, in 2010, and I received my Master’s in Teacher Leadership, in 2015. Prior to teaching Kindergarten, I was a Special Education teacher and have experience in grades, K-5th . This is my eleventh year teaching and fifth year at BWES.
My husband and I reside in Cumming, where we have two children, Brooks (5) and Jack (3). In my free time, you can find me curled up with a good book, spending time with my family and friends, or traveling with my husband.
I believe that the fundamental purpose of education is to promote positive learning, encourage diversity in the classroom, and to provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning. My goal is to combine my level of expertise and talent in order to be an effective, motivating and innovative teacher who can make an immediate contribution to your child’s education. I am excited to make this year the best year yet!
I am very happy to be a part of the Kindergarten DLI team at Brandywine! I have taught Kindergarten for 11 years, 9 of those have been in a dual language program. I have taught all grades except second. I graduated from Eastern College in Pennsylvania and received my Masters in Education from Reinhardt University here in Georgia. Prior to working with Forsyth I worked for Fulton County Schools.
My husband James and I have lived in Georgia for 21 years. We have three wonderful children , Sergio (26) Francesca (23) , and Giulianna ( 18). When I am not teaching I enjoy reading, going to the gym or watching movies
