My name is Kellie Tapp and I am going to be a 2nd grade teacher at BWE! As much as I like to tell people I am a southern girl, I have actually lived all over the place. I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and lived there for the first 9 years of my life. Since my father worked for UPS, we were always moving growing up. I have lived in Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and now Georgia. Although I hated moving at the time, I would consider it one of my biggest blessings now. It has taught me so much about myself and about others.
I attended high school in Nashville, at Independence, where I played basketball. I went to college at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee and graduated in 2015. The day of graduation, my (now) husband proposed. With a lot on my plate, I decided to move to Georgia. After moving to Georgia, I started teaching 2nd grade at Shiloh Point. During my first year of teaching, I got married over spring break! It was a blast! Michael and I have a dog, Scoop, who is a 4-year-old Dorkie (Dachshund/Yorkie). We love him to pieces!

My husband Steve has three children as well, and I am lucky enough to be step mom to Chase, Mason and Pierce. In my spare time I enjoy working out, reading and hiking. I have spent 8 years at Johns Creek Elementary teaching 2nd and K, and prior to that I was at Settles Bridge Elementary for 7 years in kindergarten. Brenda Leahy My name is Brenda Leahy and I am thrilled to be on the 2nd grade team at BWE! I earned my M.Ed from UNG and my Ed.S in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont College. Georgia has been my home for over 12 years, but I am originally from Massachusetts. The warm winters and friendly people keep me happy here. I have been teaching for over 10 years and feel so blessed to serve the students and families of the BWE community. In addition to being a busy mom to two high schoolers, I am also a movie buff, avid reader, and traveler. I have visited over 28 states, much of Europe, and Australia. However, my favorite journey is the one that I take with my new students every fall.
I am looking forward to another incredible school year. I welcome the opportunity to work with your child and help create a love of learning, encourage their natural curiosity, and nurture the whole child within. Your child is going to have an incredible experience in 2nd grade by developing their talents, facing new learning challenges, and forming warm friendships in our supportive classroom community.
