Hello, my name is Sharla Woodring, and I am so excited to have the honor and privilege to teach at Brandywine Elementary! The 2020-2021 school year will be my 23rd year of teaching in Forsyth County, all of which have been at the second-grade level. I truly love and enjoy the challenges and rewards that working with this age group offers. I earned a B.B.A in Marketing and Early Childhood Certification from North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega, Georgia, as well as a masters degree in early childhood education with an emphasis in reading instruction, from Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia. In my spare time I enjoy tennis, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. I am also the proud Mommy of a twelve-year-old Shih Tzu named Bella. I am looking forward to a successful year at Brandywine!
Hi, my name is Kristi Solem, and I am excited to be a part of the Brandywine team and be your child’s Second Grade teacher! I graduated from Kennesaw State University, in 2010, and I received my Master’s in Teacher Leadership, in 2015. Prior to teaching Second Grade, I was a Special Education teacher and have experience in grades, K-5th. This is my twelfth year teaching and fifth year at BWES.
My husband and I reside in Cumming, where we have two children, Brooks (6) and Jack (4). In my free time, you can find me curled up with a good book, spending time with my family and friends, or traveling with my husband.
I believe that the fundamental purpose of education is to promote positive learning, encourage diversity in the classroom, and to provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning. My goal is to combine my level of expertise and talent in order to be an effective, motivating and innovative teacher who can make an immediate contribution to your child’s education. I am excited to make this year the best year yet!

Hello, my name is Jacky Prieto and I am so excited to be your second grade DLI teacher! I was born and raised in Miami, FL. I received my Bachelors in Elementary Education with an Endorsement in Reading and ESOL from Florida International University in 2020. After I graduated, I married my high school sweetheart, Matthew, and we moved to Sandy Springs, which is where I currently live. When I’m not in the classroom, my husband and I love traveling to new places and hiking! If I’m not hiking, you can probably find me exploring the aisles of Target and Hobby Lobby!
I feel so blessed to be working at the best school in the world, Brandywine! Last year was my first year teaching in virtual kindergarten. It was an amazing year, but I’m I’m so excited to be back face to face in the classroom with you! I can’t wait to learn with you!

I live in Crabapple, and I am excited about my short commute to work next year! I have two grown children Cody and Jake, and both boys are here in Georgia attending college. My husband Steve has three children as well, and I am lucky enough to be step mom to Chase, Mason and Pierce. In my spare time I enjoy working out, reading and hiking. I have spent 8 years at Johns Creek Elementary teaching 2nd and K, and prior to that I was at Settles Bridge Elementary for 7 years in kindergarten. I am a native of Durham, NC, but moved to Atlanta after attending the University of Georgia where I received my BA in Psychology. After dabbling in the field of social work for five years, I found my true calling in education. I received my Masters in Education from Georgia State. I am a lifelong learner and enjoy participating in professional development opportunities.
I have worked at Sharon Elementary for 11 years. I taught pre-k for one year, kindergarten for four years, and 2nd grade for 9 years, and 5th grade for 2 years. Prior to coming to Sharon I taught at the preschool, middle school, and high school levels. Elementary is my favorite by far! I hold certifications in elementary and interrelated special education, math, and am gifted endorsed.
I live in Cumming with my wonderful husband, Scott, two teenage daughters, Lindsay (22), and Maggie (21), and my golden retriever puppy, Duke). I enjoy working out, reading, and cooking.
Brenda Leahy My name is Brenda Leahy and I am thrilled to be on the 2nd grade team at BWE! I earned my M.Ed from UNG and my Ed.S in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont College. Georgia has been my home for over 12 years, but I am originally from Massachusetts. The warm winters and friendly people keep me happy here. I have been teaching for over 10 years and feel so blessed to serve the students and families of the BWE community. In addition to being a busy mom to two high schoolers, I am also a movie buff, avid reader, and traveler. I have visited over 28 states, much of Europe, and Australia. However, my favorite journey is the one that I take with my new students every fall.
I am looking forward to another incredible school year. I welcome the opportunity to work with your child and help create a love of learning, encourage their natural curiosity, and nurture the whole child within. Your child is going to have an incredible experience in 2nd grade by developing their talents, facing new learning challenges, and forming warm friendships in our supportive classroom community.
Laura Dodd Laura graduated from Kennesaw State University and began her teaching career in Fulton County where she taught 3rd and 2nd grades for 7 years. After the birth of her first daughter Leila, she decided to take a break from the classroom to be a full-time mom.
Callie soon joined big sister Leila and Laura enjoyed staying home with both of her daughter's until 2015. Laura taught 4th grade at Sawnee Elementary where she supported four teachers as a parapro. She has always had a love for teaching and knew she would reestablish her teaching career once her daughters were of school age.
My name is Liliana Romero. I am so excited to be a part of the 2nd grade DLI team at Brandywine! This will be my 10th year as a teacher and my 5th year at Brandywine. I attended Georgia State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with an ESOL Endorsement in 2011. In April 2019, I received my Master’s Degree in Elementary Reading and Mathematics from Walden University. I am married and I have one daughter, Giselle (9). We also have a puppy named Ollie, who is very playful! During my free time, I enjoy crafting and spending time with my family and friends. I am looking forward to a fabulous year!
