Welcome to the DeSana Middle School Band Program!  We are very happy to have you here at one of the best band programs in the state of Georgia.

We are beginning our 8th year as a school and it just seems like yesterday that our door opened to our new students.

I have really enjoyed my time at DeSana and have built a program that our school, parents and community can surely be proud of. Throughout the year we have activities for each of our band kids as well as their families.  From our concerts to the Halloween parties (yes, COSTUMES are a must!) Solo and Ensemble Festival to the Christmas for the Needy charity project, we try to keep the kids involved in a positive way.  This past year, our advanced band traveled to Orlando and performed at the Music USA Festival at Universal Studios.  After all was said and done, we ended up WINNING GRAND CHAMPION beating 2 high schools and all the middle school bands in attendance. It was EPIC! AND...this was our 2nd year in a row that we won GRAND CHAMPION and 3rd of the last 4 years.

We had 14 students participate in the GMEA All District Band and 18 make it to the second round of the all-state tryouts.  We had 4 of our students make the All-State Band.  We had 15 beginning 6th and 7th graders perform with the Forsyth County Beginning Honor Band, Our Concert Band performed at our LGPE (Large Group Performance Evaluation) and received STRAIGHT SUPERIOR rating and our Symphonic Band once again wowed the crowd and received yet another STRAIGHT SUPERIOR rating at our LGPE AND A STANDING OVATIONS FROM THE JUDGES!. Having said all of this, this year has been an amazing roller-coaster ride and a ride that each of you can be a part of!

Band kids are usually overachievers and go far beyond my expectations.  I know that, being a part of our band family, you will do so as well.  I am very excited about beginning the new year of 2023-2024 with each of you-I hope that you are as excited as well.
