The focus of the Foreign Language program at DeSana Middle is to give students a foundation for foreign language studies. The program consists of cultural and grammatical studies that help students appreciate Hispanic societies and their customs. The course curriculum supports the development of 21st century skills necessary for today’s global market.

The Spanish I course offered to DeSana eighth grade students gives them an opportunity to earn a level one world language high school credit. This course engages students in novice level conversation and comprehension. Students will be able to interpret written and spoken language, as well as present concepts and ideas in the target language (Spanish).

Eighth grade Forsyth County students who successfully complete Spanish I earn high school credit for the course and begin Spanish II upon entering high school. In high school the students have the following world language options:

    • Spanish

    • French

    • German

    • Latin
