Starr Hume

Hi Kelly Mill Colts! My name is Starr Hume and am excited to return to Kelly Mill this year as a Speech & Language Pathologist. I have a varied background with a B.A. in Marketing from Southeastern Louisiana University, a certificate to teach English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University of Cambridge, and a Master of Arts in Hearing & Speech Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park. I really enjoy my profession and continue to grow in my skillset but I love, love, love, Early Intervention and pediatrics. My professional experience includes assessments and treatment in Early Intervention, outpatient rehabilitation, public and private schools, an acute hospital, and private practice clinics. I am nationally certified through ASHA, have training in DIR, Hanen, PROMPT, Beckman Oral Motor, NDT, Talk Tools, and others mainly as applied to the developing child. I am a native Georgian who drug my husband back home after he (we) retired from the Air Force so we could raise our kids back home. We have been blessed with two children, Blair (Go Dawgs) & Braxton (a HS Senior). In my free time I enjoy all things outdoors and being a mom. I look forward to serving your children!

Marinda Owens

Hi, Colts! My name is Marinda Owens, and this is my twelfth year as a Speech-Language Pathologist here at Kelly Mill! Much to the chagrin of all the UGA fans, I am a proud graduate of Auburn University - Go Tigers! Just look for the lady in navy blue and orange on college jersey days and you will find me. Additionally, I received my Master of Science in Communication Disorders from Baylor University in 1999 and have been a licensed SLP ever since. My husband and I have two daughters, one a senior at West Forsyth and one at Auburn University. Collectively, we have lived in over 6 US states, as well as in Cumbria, England. My family and I love living in the Forsyth community, and I look forward to an amazing year with all of our wonderful Colts!

Hello KME families! I’m excited to begin my 22nd year as a speech-language pathologist and eighth year here at KME. I attended the University of Florida and received my Masters degree from Georgia State University. I’ve previously worked in Gwinnett County Public Schools and in private practice. My husband, Kevin, and I have been married for 22 years and have two girls. Adelyn (15) is a sophomore at West Forsyth High School and Caryss (11) is in 6th grade at Hendricks Middle School. We have one fur baby, an adorably mischievous cockapoo named Remy. I’ve played soccer all my life and now enjoy watching my daughters play and going to Atlanta United games. My family and I love sports, traveling and the beach. I’m blessed to be part of the Colt community and am glad that your child is here with us!
