Starr Hume

Hi Kelly Mill Colts! My name is Starr Hume and I am excited to return to Kelly Mill this year as a Speech & Language Pathologist. I have a varied background with a B.A. in Marketing from Southeastern Louisiana University, a certificate to teach English to Speakers of Other Languages and a Master of Arts in Hearing & Speech Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park. I really enjoy my profession and continue to grow in my skillset but I love, love, love, Early Intervention and pediatrics. My professional experience includes assessments and treatment in Early Intervention, outpatient rehabilitation, public and private schools, an acute hospital, and private practice clinics. I am nationally certified through ASHA, have training in DIR, Hanen, PROMPT, Beckman Oral Motor, NDT, Talk Tools, and others mainly as applied to the developing child. I am a native Georgian who brought my husband back home after retiring from the Air Force so we could raise our kids back home. We have been blessed with two wonderful children, Blair (Go Dawgs) & Braxton (Go Bobcats). In my free time I enjoy all things outdoors and being a mom. I look forward to serving this school and your children!

I attended the University of Florida and received my Masters degree from Georgia State University. I’ve previously worked in Gwinnett County Public Schools and in private practice. My husband, Kevin, and I have been married for 23 years and have two girls. Adelyn (16) is a junior at West Forsyth High School and Caryss (12) is in 7th grade at Hendricks Middle School. We have one fur baby, an adorably mischievous cockapoo named Remy. I’ve played soccer all my life and now enjoy watching my daughters play and going to Atlanta United games. My family and I love sports, traveling and the beach. I’m blessed to be part of the Colt community and am glad that your child is here with us!
