FIRST Tech Challenge is a competition that spans most of the fall semester, beginning in early August, with a game kickoff on September 8th, and a season that runs until early January.
Students work in teams of 6-10 to create a robot that competes in that year’s challenge. In addition to building and programming a robot, teams work on business plans, community involvement and outreach programs, fundraising activities, and a iconic presence through design of appearance and branding.

FIRST Robotic Competition is a program that utilizes every skillset available in one team per school. The FRC season starts with learning in November and December, a kickoff in January, followed by an intense 6 week build, with competitions in early March, and a world championship event in mid-April. FRC is very similar to FIRST Tech Challenge, so students who wish to participate in FRC are strongly encouraged to compete in FIRST Tech Challenege as well.
