     Adkins Laurie Adkins
    Hi Pirates! My name is Laurie Adkins, and I am so excited to join the crew at Poole's Mill. I have been teaching for 21 years with experience in kindergarten, first, and third grade. I am looking forward to working in 3rd grade this upcoming year and partnering with you. I have been married for 19 years to my wonderful husband, Eric who teaches at Riverwatch Middle School.  We have 2 children; Cameron will be a senior at West and Madelyn will be a freshman at West. When I am not at school, I enjoy running, playing tennis, and traveling with my family. I look forward to a great year with you!

    Heinecke Caroline Heinecke

     

    Hi all! My name is Caroline Heinecke. I graduated from the University of Mississippi with my  Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with emphasis in middle grades math, history, and k-12 special education. I will graduate in December from Georgia Southern University with my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. This will be my fifth year teaching with experience in 1st and 3rd grade. I am always looking for a way to challenge my students with an engaging learning environment. I enjoy spending time outdoors reading, crafting, or by the pool with friends and family. I am so excited to join the Poole’s Mill family!

    Hi! My name is Beckie Hutka and this is my 3rd year as a Poole's Mill Pirate and my 20th year in the classroom! I am so excited to be teaching third grade this year. I have a B.S. in Education from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. I have taught preschool 3's and 4's, special needs PreK, transitional kindergarten, 5th grade, and served as a kindergarten instructional assistant.

     Mattie McKenzie Mattie

    Hi! My name is McKenzie Mattie. I graduated from UGA with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Go Dawgs!! I have also received an ESOL and Gifted endorsement. I spent one year teaching GA Pre-K and the last four years teaching fourth grade. I love helping children reach their full potential and creating a space where students feel valued and supported. When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family and my cat, Hank. I am excited about serving the children in the area I was born and raised in. This is going to be a great year!

     Odom Shara Odom

    This year will be my fifth year teaching third grade and my tenth overall! I have my Master's in Early Childhood Education which I received from Georgia State University. I also have my ESOL, STEM, and Gifted Endorsements. Before this year, I taught fifth grade for four years and have also taught fourth grade. I have been married to my wonderful husband for over a decade, and we have two young girls that are my world.

    My name is Erin Sakacsi, and I have been in the field of education for the better part of the last 20 years. I have taught 5th grade, 3rd grade, 2nd grade, GA Pre-K, and spent several years in Pre-School administration. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Psychology from North Georgia College and State University. I am a native of Georgia and have lived in Forsyth County for the last 33 years. When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time outside, doing crafts, cooking up new recipes or watching movies with my two children, Piper and Grayson. I am so grateful to be a part of the Poole’s Mill Elementary community, and am even more proud to be a Pirate! This is going to be the best school year ever!

    Hello Pirates! I am in year two of being at Poole's Mill and I am so excited to have another amazing year! I attended Georgia Southern University and graduated with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education as well as a reading endorsement. I love teaching and making connections with my students and families throughout the year. In my free time, I love reading a good book, going on adventures, and spending time with friends and family. This is going to be an amazing year in 3rd grade!

    I have been teaching for 10 years, with the majority of my time spent in 5th grade. This will be my second year at Poole's Mill and I love being a pirate! I have a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education, a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education and a Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I love to make learning engaging, build relationships with students and parents, and have FUN with kids! In my free time, I love to spend time with my babies (Eleanor-4 & Witt-2), go to the gym with my husband, and cheer on the Falcons, Braves, and Bulldogs. I am looking forward to an incredible year!

    Hello Pirates! This will be my second year teaching and my second year at Poole’s Mill! I grew up in Forsyth County and always knew I wanted to teach in my hometown. I graduated from UGA with both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education. I also have my ESOL endorsement. My favorite thing about teaching is building relationships with my students and creating a class family together. Outside of school, I enjoy going on walks, reading, trying new restaurants, and spending time with my husband. It’s going to be a great year in 3rd grade!

    Hi!  My name is Michelle Toth.  I am excited to join the Poole’s Mill family for the 2024-2025 school year! I graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2001 and I have 22 years of teaching experience.  I love to build relationships with students and families to create the best learning environment possible. I relocated to Georgia from South Florida in 2015 to be closer to family. In my free time, I enjoy cooking and baking, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. I am looking forward to an amazing school year!
