4950 Hyde Road, Cumming, Georgia 30040 Opening August 2021

Hendricks Middle School (HMS) will be Forsyth County Schools’ 11th middle school. It is on a 46-acre tract in west Forsyth and is similar in design to DeSana MS. HMS, as constructed, will be the county’s largest middle school with the capacity for 1,475 students. Cheryl Riddle will serve as principal, effective July 1, 2020. She has served principal at Liberty MS since 2015, and was an assistant principal at Little Mill MS and North Forsyth MS.

The land and the construction for HMS were funded by voters that approved the 2018 bond referendum. The name was selected by the Forsyth County Board of Education to honor former board member Donald F. Hendricks, who served from 1993-2002. Mr. Hendricks led with three guiding principles: a community-based Strategic Plan, Partners in Education, and Local School Advisory Councils (now called Local School Councils). His family selected blue, grey and white as the school’s colors to reflect his career at General Motors and chose the hawk as the school’s mascot to represent his vision, insight, and energy.

Traditionally, Forsyth County Schools redistricts one year prior to a new school's opening; redistricting for HMS will occur fall, 2020. The district has not had discussions at this time on any specifics for attendance lines. However, the school is projected to primarily relieve Liberty, Otwell and Vickery Creek middle schools. HMS is projected to offer college and career programs that feed into programs offered at West Forsyth HS.
