Welcome to the World Language Department at Hendricks!

High School Spanish 1 is offered to 8th graders in middle school for a high school credit. The world language program at HMS is performance-based.  By the end of the first year of language study, students build skills to communicate and comprehend at a Novice High Level. An emphasis is placed on interpersonal speaking, presentational writing, and interpretive reading and listening skills. The culture of various Spanish-speaking countries is integrated into instructional activities, interpretive listening, and interpretive reading resources. Students will have an opportunity to practice interpersonal speaking in the HMS World Language Lab.
