Olivia Currie

Hi, my name is Olivia Currie, and I'll be on the second grade team at New Hope!

I graduated from Georgia Southern University with a bachelor's in Elementary Education and Special Education, as well as a master's in Curriculum and Instruction. 

I grew up in Cumming and graduated from Forsyth Central High School. I love to spend time at the beach or lake with friends and family any chance I get! I love to travel, hike, and read!

I'm looking forward to building relationships with students and families and creating an amazing community of Nighthawks!

Morgan O'Leary

Hi, there! I'm Morgan O'Leary, and I'm so excited for another amazing year at New Hope!

I am originally from Buffalo, NY (Go Bills!) and graduated from Wake Forest University. I earned my Master's in Elementary Education from Piedmont College. I have been teaching in Forsyth County since 2015. I was honored to be named Forsyth County Teacher of the Year in 2023. 

I live in Brookhaven, but I enjoy visiting my family in Florida. I love to spend time at the beach or lake with friends and family any chance I get! I also love to explore new restaurants and read.

I'm looking forward to another year building relationships with students and families and continuing to create an amazing community of Nighthawks!

Mary Ohlrich

My name is Mary Ohlrich, and I am proud to be a New Hope Nighthawk! I have a passion for working with young learners and have been teaching since 2012. I was raised in Johns Creek, Georgia attended Fulton County schools and graduated from University of West Georgia. I am certified to teach elementary education and have my reading endorsement. I strive to create a community of learners that nurtures growth in a positive, fun environment.
 
My husband and I like to go to Braves games, hike, travel, and spend time with family. We have a German Shepherd named Sampson.

Jennifer Poitevint

Hi, I'm Jennifer Poitevint and I am so proud to be a Nighthawk!
 
I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University. I also have endorsements in Reading and Math. I am most proud of earning my master's degree in Early Childhood Education through Piedmont University, all while raising 2 children and working full time.
 
I grew up in Suwanee, GA and played volleyball into college. My husband, Tait, and I live in Sugar Hill, and we have 3 kiddos, Ellie, Sadie, and TJ. I love to spend time with my family, watch sports, go hiking, and work out. My husband coaches softball and baseball, so we like to go cheer on his team as well!

Mandy Schmadl

My name is Mandy Schmadl, and I have been teaching since 2003. Throughout my career, I have taught kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade, fostering a love for learning in young students. I hold a bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. Currently, I reside in Alpharetta with my husband, two sons, and our two beloved dogs. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, traveling, and spending quality time with my family. I am excited to continue teaching 2nd grade at New Hope Elementary.

Caroline Sutton

Hi there!! My name is Caroline Sutton and I'm one of the second grade teachers here at New Hope!
 
I grew up in Peachtree City, Georgia and graduated from Starr's Mill High School. I graduated from Georgia College & State University with an endorsement in Reading.
 
One of my favorite things about teaching is watching the kids grow throughout their time in the classroom and seeing all the progress from the beginning to the end of the year. Besides teaching, I enjoy playing tennis and spending time with family, friends, and my husband Mitchell. I am also the girls junior varsity tennis coach at West Forsyth!
 
I look forward to meeting all the smiling faces! I am so excited to be part of the Nighthawk family and the amazing community! Go Nighthawks!!!

Carey Upchurch

Hello, Nighthawks! I'm Carey Upchurch, and I'll be teaching 2nd grade at New Hope!

I have my bachelor's of science in Psychology from Vanderbilt University and my master's in Education from Washington University. I also have my Gifted endorsement. I have experience teaching kindergarten and second grade.

I grew up in St. Louis, MO, where my parents still live. I moved to Atlanta and started teaching here more than 25 years ago after graduating from college. I have two children, Courson and Caitlin, who are in college and high school, and we have one cat named Corby. I enjoy exploring the north Georgia mountains as well as running and walking on the Greenway. I love spending time with my family whenever I can!

I am looking forward to creating new friendships and real connections here at New Hope!

Ally Welch

My name is Ally Welch and I have been teaching since 2019. I have taught in an ACA program and 2nd grade during this time. I have earned my Bachelor's Degree from Mercer University and my Masters Degree from Augusta University. I grew up in Cumming Georgia but recently bought a house in Dawsonville. I look forward to teaching 2nd grade again here at New Hope!
