This is my 9th year teaching. I previously taught for 6 years in Fulton County. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Special Education from University of North Georgia in 2011 and my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University in 2016. My husband, David, and I have two dogs, Finley and Emma, and a cat named Pearl. We moved to Cumming from the Buckhead area of Atlanta to be closer to family. I'm a New Yorker who came to Georgia for the weather and stayed for the people. I'm so excited to be starting my 5th year of teaching in Georgia at Matt Elementary! I have my dual certificate in Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities as well as an advanced degree in Literacy. When I'm not teaching you can find me at the gym, cooking/trying a new restaurant, or playing with my fur babies (a dog named Scarlett and a cat named Emma). I taught special education (k-5) in Milledgeville Ga for 5 years and then moved with my husband to Forsyth County Schools and taught ACA K-1 for two years. I received my Bachelors degree in Special Education, my Masters in Early Childhood Education and my Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Georgia College and State University. I have two kiddos, Aiden (3) and Adalynn (4 months), two dogs, Tinkerbell and Ragnar, and a cat named Penny. My husband, Jared Hawkins is teaching 6th grade science at North Forsyth Middle. Amy Norman Welcome to FOURTH grade! This is my first year at Matt Elementary and my fourth year in Forsyth County. I attended Young Harris College, University of Georgia and National University in Los Angeles, California where I taught for 10 years. I recently complete my master’s degree in Elementary Education along with my gifted endorsement. I am certified in Special Education, Reading, ESOL! I am very excited to work at Matt Elementary and become a lifelong Mariner. I have three children; Robert 23, Austin 21, and Sarah 19. Their is nothing more exciting than helping them to achieve that "aha" moment after struggling with a new concept. My husband, Ted and I have been married 24 years and have two beautiful daughters; Sarah Kate, a senior at WFHS and Rileigh, a sophomore at WFHS. This will be my sixth year of teaching and my third year teaching the ACA K-2 class! I truly feel I have one of the best jobs in the world. We love and laugh a lot in our classroom.
