Jan Munroe Principal
My name is Jan Munroe, and as Principal of Midway Elementary School, I am honored to serve students and to partner with our community. As an educator in Forsyth County for over 20 years, it has been my good fortune to have many opportunities to work with talented students and educators. Having completed undergraduate work from the University of Tennessee, my education continued with a Master’s Degree from North Georgia College and State University, and Leadership from Georgia State University. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, hiking, and reading. I am devoted to my family and delight in working with students, families, and staff at Midway Elementary.

It is a privilege to continue serving on the Midway Elementary team as Assistant Principal. This will be my 26th year as an educator. Over the years, I have worked in Walton, Savannah-Chatham, and Gwinnett counties. It has been an honor to call Forsyth County home for the last eleven years. My experiences include teaching Kindergarten through 5th grades, serving as a Reading Recovery teacher & EIP teacher, as well as a Literacy & Instructional Coach. Prior to joining the Midway family I served as an Assistant Principal at Shiloh Point for four years. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Presbyterian College, Reading Endorsement & Reading Recovery Certificate from Georgia State University, Masters Degree from Walden University, and Leadership Endorsement from Kennesaw State University. My passions are reading, continuous learning, and supporting the growth & development of both students and colleagues.
My husband, Ashley, and I are the proud parents of a son, Corey, and a daughter, Brooke. Corey is a 2016 North Forsyth High graduate and Brooke is a ninth grader at SFHS. We enjoy spending family time together camping, hiking, being on the lake or in the mountains, and cooking.

Greg Walkup Administrative Support
My name is Greg Walkup and I am excited to be serving you as part of the Midway Administrative Team this year! My most recent stop comes from Forsyth Central High School where, as the Teacher Academy Director, I supported high school students aspiring to be effective and inspiring educators and school leaders. Prior to that I had extensive experience in elementary education. I taught at Vickery Creek Elementary teaching both 2nd & 3rd grade. I then helped to open Kelly Mill Elementary as their instructional/technology coach.
I have received a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Specialist Degree in Instructional Technology along with my Gifted, Reading, Online Teaching, and Leadership endorsements.
Family is important to me as an educator and in my personal life. I am married to my beautiful wife of 13 years, and have a 9 year-old son and 7 year-old daughter. In addition to family, I value life-long learning and building strong relationships and I can't wait to do this with the students, staff, and the community of Midway Elementary!
I look forward to serving alongside you this year. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you might have. I look forward to a great year!
