    Core Work Conference

    Conference Objective:

     

    To deepen knowledge, expand expertise, and build school-level capacity in Forsyth’s core work including the WOW Framework for designing engaging quality work, standards-based teaching and learning, and developing, supporting and retaining new teachers.

    Core Work Sessions:

     

    ·        New Teacher Induction (NTI) (for induction team leaders at each school)Location: PDC/Room 380

    o       Key Leaders – Lynn Seay, Mary Harwell, Barbara Vella, Brent McBride and Kathy Adkins

    o       Curriculum includes review of and extended learning on inducting new teachers and effective utilization of the school-based Induction Guidebook

    ·        Standards-Based Unit Design (SBUD)
     Location FCHS - West Campus Entrance (Elm St.) - Classrooms

    o       Key Leaders – Michel Satterfield, Genise Tworek, Kelly Moore and Kelly Stewart

    o       Curriculum includes review of and extended learning on SBUD, Designing Quality Work and Differentiation

    ·        Assessment FOR Learning (AFL)
    Location:  SFHS - West Hall Cafeteria

    o       Key Leaders – Kelly Price, Dawn Souter, Mike Evans and David Mashburn

    o       Curriculum includes review of and extended learning on AFL, Standards-Based Grading and Differentiation

    ·        High Leverage Instructional Strategies (HLIS)
    Location :  FCHS - East Campus Entr (Tribble Gap Rd), Media Ctr.

    o       Key Leaders – Kathy Jolly, Brenda Schulz, Sarah Moseley, Paul West, Jennifer Schau, Maggie Paoletti and Ruth Good

    o       Curriculum includes review of and extended learning on HLIS, Differentiation and Pyramid of Interventions

    ·        Advanced WOW (for experienced WOW teaching leaders)
    Location: Central Office, Drive Lab 1 & 2 (Revised!)

    o       Key Leaders –  Lissa Pijanowski, Lynn Seay, Lynne Purcell and Nita Rooney

    o       Curriculum includes review of and extended learning on the WOW Design Qualities, Levels of Engagement, protocols for examining teacher and student work, and teaching peers how to design engaging quality work for students
