Hello! I'm Macy Moonshower. I graduated from the University of North Georgia with a dual degree in early childhood/special education and a reading endorsement. I have been at Big Creek since 2017 and I love using my passion for teaching. I love to be outdoors, read, travel, and spend time with my friends, family, and my Siberian Husky, Meeka in my free time. Looking forward to another wonderful year at Big Creek Elementary!

I graduated from the University of North Georgia in 2018 and shortly after began my career teaching. Through college, I discovered my passion for working with children with special needs. My name is Sarah Cox, I am from a small Michigan town called Sparta. I received my bachelors from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1999. I moved to Georgia right after graduation to teach. I have taught in Special Education since 1999. I am married to Carl and we have 2 children together that keep me busy. My passion has always been to work with children with special needs. Working with them in high school was the best decision I made, because it was then that I discovered my love of working with children with special needs. I love my job and kiddos I get to work with every day.

I enjoy outdoor activities including hiking, camping with my family and our dog, and love reading and watching movies. I have more than ten years of experience in Teaching ESL, general education, early childhood and special education. During my free time, I love spending time in my vegetable garden or do some wood working projects! I also enjoy running and traveling.

My name is Jill Alie. I have been teaching at Big Creek Elementary since 2014. I graduated with a BS in Rehabilitation Counseling from Springfield College in Springfield, MA. I received my MSEd in Special Education from Simmons College in Boston, MA. I have also earned my Reading and ESOL Endorsements and have a Reading Specialist Certification. I am originally from New England. In 2000, I married my husband and moved to Georgia. We have three children, a daughter at Denmark High School, a son at DeSana Middle School and a son here at Big Creek. I have taught special education for over 15 years. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy cheering my children on in their sports, listening to live music with my husband and spending time with my family. We have a Corgi/Sheltie rescue and a cat we love dearly. I am so happy to be teaching your children here at Big Creek and look forward to a wonderful school year!
Hi, my name is Joyce Robinson! I was born and raised in Connecticut. I graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Boston University and have a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in Massachusetts. I am married and we have two wonderful daughters. We lived and raised our daughters in southeastern Massachusetts not far from Cape Cod. I was lucky enough to stay at home to raise our daughters. I began my work with special needs persons in 2012 as a job coach for adults with intellectual disabilities. Soon afterward in the fall of 2013, I started my work in special education as a paraprofessional in our high school working with mild to moderate special needs students. I was employed there for four years. After moving to Georgia in 2017, I worked in a K-5 autism classroom in Fulton County. I began working at Big Creek Elementary in 2018 in the K-2 Specialized Instruction classroom. My husband and I enjoy exploring the state parks as well as traveling up north to visit our families and friends. I am so happy to be a part of Big Creek Elementary and working with your students!
Hello! I'm Jill Hite. I graduated from the University of North Carolina with a degree in Child Development and Family Relations. I have been married to my husband, Craig, for 23 years and have 4 children. Two are in college and two attend Denmark H.S. I enjoy traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with my family. I am excited for another wonderful year at Big Creek Elementary!
I graduated with my Early Childhood Education degree from LaGrange College, then went onto obtain my Master’s in Special Education with a focus in Autism from the University of Missouri. The best thing about teaching is watching the growth of a child academically and socially throughout the year. I love to travel, coach softball, and spend time with my family. Traveling outside the country is one of my favorite summer hobbies. This summer I went to Saudi Arabia and Jordan for a month! I have two nieces who I adore!
Katie Bekken Hello, my name is Katie Bekken. I am originally from from Birmingham, Alabama, but have taught in Auburn, Alabama, and Savannah, Georgia. I taught Special Education in Savannah for two years, teaching middle school, and in Auburn, Alabama for three years, teaching kindergarten through third grade. Prior to that, I graduated from Auburn University (War Eagle!) with my Bachelor’s degree and my Master’s degree in Special Education! I met my husband at Auburn, and we just celebrated our anniversary in June! We live in Cumming with our sweet Golden Retriever, Nova. In our free time, we enjoy going to the lake, spending time with family, and going to Auburn football games! 710248
Karen Kipley Hello! My name is Karen Kipley. I graduated from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with my Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 1995 and earned my Bachelor’s degree from Valparaiso University in 1991. I have worked in a variety of settings including: Babies Can’t Wait, hospitals, special needs daycare, private practice and schools. I love empowering my students to communicate! I have two boys, Logan and Keegan who keep me busy. In my spare time I enjoy reading, crafting, woodworking, sewing, and swimming. I look forward to a great year here at Big Creek. 710461
Shawna Nickerson Hello! I graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in Intercultural Communication in 2008 and pursued my master’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Houston, Texas. After graduating in 2012, I worked in a variety of settings including public schools, acute care hospitals, inpatient rehab, home health, and my own private practice. After 6 years in Boca Raton, FL and 9 years in Houston, TX, my husband and I recently decided to move back to our hometown of Roswell, GA to be closer to family. I’ve been married for 10 years and have 3 children ages 4 yrs, 4 yrs, and 2 yrs. My oldest child had special needs as an infant and toddler which gave me a whole new understanding of what parents go through when getting therapy and medical help for their child. I coached swimming as a teenager and young adult and developed a passion for working with children. I love watching a child make progress and achieve their goals. I am so excited to be joining Big Creek as the part-time speech therapist! 710463
