Math Team & Mu Alpha Theta
Club Sponsors:Ms. Sarah Otto, Ms. Corinna EcheverriaMu Alpha ThetaClub Overview:Mu Alpha Theta is the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society. We are dedicated to inspiring keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school and two-year college students.To be considered for membership:
You must meet all of the requirements below in order to be considered for membership:
1. You must have an overall GPA of 3.0.
2. You must have an overall mathematics GPA of 3.5 or higher in accelerated classes or a 4.0 in on-level mathematics classes.
3. You must have completed the equivalent of two years of college preparatory mathematics, including algebra and/or geometry, and in addition have completed or are enrolled in a third year of college preparatory mathematics.
4. You must be a Junior or Senior.Announcements:Applications are now closed for the 2020-2021 school year.
Mu Alpha Theta meetings will be held virtually after school (4:30-5:15) on the following days:

Requirements for graduation cord:Returning Seniors: In order to receive the graduation cord, you must attend at least 10 meetings (or articles) and have 15 or more service hours.
Newly inducted Seniors: In order to receive the graduation cord, you must attend 6 meetings (or articles) and have 10 or more service hours.
Juniors: If you do not complete all requirements (service hours/meetings) they will carry over into next year. You should have at least 5 meetings this year and as many service hours as you can.

Math TeamClub Overview:The Math team participates in mathematics competitions. Some of the competitions are after school while others take place during the school day. Some competitions take place on Saturdays at various high schools and colleges.
Club Meeting Times:The math team will meet every Tuesday at 4:30pm virtually - Google Meet. Our first meeting will be September 1st.

Our Math Team did an awesome job at UGA on October 26th.Out of 329 students, 89 teams, 44 schools; we had students place 9th, 11th, and 33rd individually. We had a team rank 4th!Hook'Em!
Our Math Team performed great at Rockdale on October 19th.Hook'Em!Our Varsity and Junior Varsity teams did a great job at the North Fulton Math Competition September 21st! This is one of the toughest tests. Our Varsity team placed 2nd and our JV team placed 4th! We also had students individually place 2nd and 5th at the Varsity level and 4th at the JV level.We had 6 students qualify for Kennesaw Part 2 out of the 11 who participated in Kennesaw Part 1!!!! Out of those 6 students, 4 placed in the top 100, 3 in the top 50. One student ranked #3 out of everyone!!!Our small, but mighty, team did well at GSMST at the beginning of February. Aadi outscored everyone and took 1st place individual!We had a total of 8 students qualify to take the AIME! Way to hook 'em!!!
