This will be my 13th year teaching. I taught fifth grade for 7 years and have spent the last 6 years in Kindergarten. I'm excited to embark on my 2nd year teaching Dual Language Immersion. I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Florida International University and my master's degree is in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Georgia. I graduate in May 2020 with a Specialist degree in Curriculum & Instruction (K-12) from Piedmont College. I look forward to another amazing year with my students and their families!
My name is Barbie Mason. I have been teaching at Cumming Elementary for 20 years. I grew up in Atlanta and live in Cumming with my 16 yr old son. I enjoy spending my free time hiking, kayaking, traveling and listening to music. I love teaching and look forward to another fantastic year at Cumming!
I am beginning my 22nd year in the classroom and my second year at Cumming Elementary. I have taught 4th, 2nd, 1st, and Kindergarten during my teaching career. I have been married for 27 years and have three sons. Jeffrey is 24, Ross is 22, and Josh is 19. We love spending time watching sports, especially the Georgia Bulldogs and my son's team The Cumberland Phoenix!
I have been a teacher at CES for 6 years. I attended Cumming Elementary, Otwell Middle School and Forsyth Central High School. I was one of the first teachers to implement dual language at CES, and since then I have been enamored with bilingual education. My number one hobby is my family, the rest are reading, watching movies, and visiting museums. I consider myself a home body who prefers peace and quiet during my evenings.
I am starting my 29th year at Cumming Elementary! My goals for my students are to have FUN, stay safe, and have a love for learning. My favorite thing is watching my students learn to read because it opens all other possibilities for them.
I am so excited to share my first year at CES with my new kindergarten friends and their families! I have been a teacher for 20 years...14 years in Marietta, Georgia and 6 years in Charleston, South Carolina. I have spent most of my career as an Early Intervention Teacher with Kindergarten and first grade students. I am a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee (GO VOLS) and 29 years ago, I married a Georgia Bulldog(GO DAWGS)! We have 4 children, 3 in the area and our youngest at the Universtiy of Kentucky (GO WILDCATS). We also have 4 precious grandsons. I love spending time with my family and friends on our boat, at the beach, and watching SEC football.
