​The National English Honor Society recognizes the academic accomplishments of American’s high school students and promotes their continuing interest in the English language arts. Membership is by invitation and requires an overall minimum grade point average of 3.0 with a 4.0 in on-level English classes and/or a 3.5 in Honors/AP English classes.  Students are eligible for membership after the completion of their freshman year. NEHS members engage in two service projects during the school year, both involving promotion of literature in some way. 
Seniors who are members in good standing receive honor cords to wear at graduation.
