The Preliminary SAT, also known as the PSAT/NMSQT® (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), is a practice version of the SAT exam. The PSAT is about three hours long and tests skills in reading, writing, and math. The highest score possible on the PSAT is 1520. Earning a high score on the PSAT/NMSQT during the student's junior year (11th grade) could qualify them to receive a National Merit Scholarship. After taking the test, students who provided an email address on their PSAT answer sheet will receive an electronic score report in mid-December. A paper score report is also available from EFH upon request. Students can log in to or create a College Board account online to link to free, personalized SAT practice through Khan Academy after scores are released.
2022 PSAT/NMSQT Registration
East Forsyth High School offers students in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT once per year. The PSAT/NMSQT will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at EFHS during the school day.
The cost of the test is $25 for 9th and 11th grade students. The test is free for 10th grade students, as the cost is covered by the state of Georgia.
Registration for the PSAT/NMSQT will open on July 18, 2022 and close on September 9, 2022. 9th and 11th grade students should register to take the PSAT/NMSQT through Total Registration. Since the test is free for all 10th grade students, 10th grade students do not need to register to take the test.
