On Saturday, January 9, 2021, 31 students from Forsyth County elementary and middle schools participated in the district Spelling Bee. Each student was the winner of their school's Spelling Bee. After 12 rounds of competition, Nimal Murugan from South Forsyth MS was named the 2021 FCS Spelling Bee champion after correctly spelling the winning word- vicenary. The first runner up was Sarah Hackett from Little Mill MS, the second runner up was Cindy Zhou from Haw Creek ES, and the third runner was Tanish Jampala from Lakeside MS. These four students will compete in the Georgia Association of Educators' Region 2 Spelling Bee on February 27th. Isitha Thanthiriwatte from Riverwatch MS placed 5th and will serve as the alternate.
